While Rebirth is a pleasant experience there's one thing in particular which is driving me mad sometimes .. the module scanning mechanism!1

I'd like to know how the best implementation would look like for you. Personally I lean towards Butterranges and InfoScan ..

Vanilla is absolutely, positively, unambiguously, 100% fine and makes perfect sense. You don't need to scan every station to 100%. You don't even need to scan most stations at all, unless you want to do missions and/or get those special discounts and commissions (which is a reward for actually taking the time to thoroughly inspect the station).
What you may want to scan is production modules to fill out the encyclopedia for production methods (or to monitor select stations for specific ware production), and storage modules for piracy. That's it. There is no need to "butter" any ranges here at all. If somehow there still is for you, might as well just cheat in the 100% scanned stations and be done with it.

Ah .. Those unaccomplished 100 per cents would taunt me like echoes of youthful procrastination... Ever there, disturbing my inner Zen..

Since this is the vanilla XR forum and radcapricorn has nicely expressed the actual situation in the vanilla game, this mainly mods-based discussion can be continued if required in the S&M forum. :)
