Mobile Drilling System as combat weapon?
According to the info on Argonopedia, the mining laser will cause 4000 units of shield damage per shot and 6000 units of hull damage per shot. Compared to the Gamma HEPT 3000 units of shield damage and 2000 units of hull damage the mining laser would seem to be a formidable weapon for short range combat. Has anyone tried it out under combat? what were the outcomes?
'Bullet' speed is far too low to hit anything except by luck. Repeat rate is also slow, in the same time you could have fired three or four HEPT shots that, together, would do more damage.

Demeters on Auto-pilot don't tend to get close enough to a station to use the Mining Laser on them.
I have personally dispatched many a target in my Demeter armed with a Mining Laser up front and an APSG in the rear.
The Mining Laser is a formidable weapon if you can get the timing right.
For quite a while I had a Demeter called "Heads or Rocks ..." and a following Dolphin called "Its all the same" implying that the duo were equally happy breaking rocks or breaking heads. Both were profitable ventures

slow ships with large amounts of shields. have them target something big like a station or frigate or what eververylargesnake wrote:According to the info on Argonopedia, the mining laser will cause 4000 units of shield damage per shot and 6000 units of hull damage per shot. Or fast ships. IDK
Sounds more like of a heavy weapon used against stationary or "slow" targets.
Wings and wingment are essential:
They give the enemy someone else to shoot at
They give the enemy someone else to shoot at
