...why don't people PM you when they have things like this to say?

Anyway, is there a good reason for the large gaps between the ends of what we type and our sigs? Like this...

I have no idea why they don't but it would make sense. I ever received one PM since the new forum started and that was not related to the forum, If it is about problems accessing the forum or with the user name, Steel as site admin is the person to see. As he had posted in a sticky message on top of the forum.

Cheers

My guess is it's because were still not sure who the 'top dog' is, it was easy when Helge ran the show. I'm sure we'll work it out...given past experience, I can't beleive I just said that.

The top dog would be Bernd but Steel is the Site Administrator on the english forum, I guess that makes him the boss here. Paul Knibbs and I are watch dogs only to see who or what might stray from the norm of this forum.
Then of course is BurnIt, he I guess fits in just below Bernd. He is more responsible for the german forum but he can operate here too if required. Steel is still the boss man here
I hope this explains it somewhat

Cheers

Easy,

Bernd is "Top dog" on all forums.

BurnIt is admin on the German forum.
Steel is admin on the English forum (although I ask BurnIt for lots of help :-)

Actually, I can't see any sort of large gap--it just looks like the line between the post and the sig is made up of normal underline characters, which obviously sit at the bottom of the text line and therefore leave a (nearly) one character high gap.

I get a three line gap, then the 'signature-line', maybe it depends on the theme or browser you're using.

I get about three lines, plus the effect pjk mentioned. I'm using the 'old BtF' theme. I'm also in contact with Steel on the issue. Anyone else have this problem, or not. :?

No gap with the SpacePilot3K theme...

...or with subsilver...

...but it's back with the Classic THQ Default.

My guess is it's a theme related problem.

That's not a bug, it's a feature ! :)

This gap is there for a good purpose. Although it increased the scroll length of a post it improves readability.

Some people have very "eye-catching" signatures or lots of text in their sigs, that makes it sometimes difficult to see where the actual message ends and where the sig starts. So there's a gap to make this clear.

Of course, if you all want me to remove this gap - no problem, I'll do what I can to make this forum as pleasent to you as possible.

I'd argue that if I wanted to leave a gap I would put it there myself, but then we don't all have the same sense of aesthetics. Oh well, the poll is currently 100% with me (1 vote  )

Very funny. Nice :-)

Tch. You see what the lack of a threaded view results in? Premature posting...
