I've got my house all set up with Hue Lights now, controlled via Apple Home.

Quite handy. But We were out the other evening, and I noticed the kitchen and living room lights were still on when I was using my phone, so I turned them off.

Forgetting that my 14 year old stepdaughter was home, and she didn't know I could do that...

So from her perspective, all the lights turned themselves off, one at a time, leaving her in total darkness, and somewhat unnerved.

She was not a happy bunny when I got home and found out it had been me.

True story (It's clean!)

So, when I was like 5 or so, I got hold of some newspaper sale circular or catalog or some such and cut out pictures of hot women in scanty clothing. I then glued them to a wall in my room... I don't know why. Really, I had no darn clue why. I set up some kind of religious-like shrine to attractive women. GLUED TO THE WALL. (Elmer's glue) I was 5 years old (or thereabouts). I was hypnotized, must have been, because I had no concept of "anything" that one could associate with hot, "attractive" women. I guess I just thought they were pretty or something.

After I had assembled what had to have been the most artistic artsy art mural IN THE WORLD I looked upon my Great Work and was struck with a sudden foreboding - My parents might see it! So, I moved a window drapery to cover it and taped it in place. Tape, mind you, not glue, so I could unveil its glory when it was prudent to do so. (It may have been thumbtacks, now that I think about it. Either way, it was a temp fix.)

The triumphant shrine to my mysterious muses stood for a century! Well, about a day or so, really... Obviously, such was the power of my art that it could not be contained. It was discovered by the local art critics (my parents) and they ordered it removed, obviously because it should be shared with the masses in a gallery! Or, something like that. My mother was furious. I think my dad was proud, though...

(Things get a bit hazy. But, the gist of it is: I have always known what true art is, despite my parent's attempt to deny me! Today, a kid's bedroom wall is their iPhone or computer and it's easier to move the draperies to cover it up.)

When I was younger I was interested in things like Lego, computers, model trains, Lego.

There were these strange things called girls but they really weren't that interesting, at least not compared to the Lego.

Then when I grew older I discovered what I'd been missing all those years - Lego Trains.

Of course nowadays with the internet a whole new world opened up. People make videos of putting Arduino boards into their Lego.

Seems to me that if you kit out the Arduino with some Wifi adapters you could hook it into the IoT and take it to the next level

I had some Legos. Not sure when I got them, though. Before the Legos, I had an Erector Set, Tinker Toys and assorted other bits of put-together stuff. Lincoln Logs, etc

I also "professionally" dissembled electronic devices around the home... until my parents learned to just give me whatever electronic gadget had recently broken or had been replaced. (To save them the trouble of having to replace the electronics stuff I had "broken." Which is offensive, since I consider a "shoebox full of parts" as a new electronic gadget in its native, non-broken, soon-to-be-something-else, state...)

Was looking around on Arduino stuffs. There's all sorts of things with wifi, internetz, etc, being hooked up with Arduino. I really need to go get a starter kit, I suppose, for funsies. Then again, I'm in the USA, so as soon as some non-standard comm traffic pops over my IP connection, I'll get flagged by the NSA and Trump will build a wall around my house or something...

For some strange reason, we had a calendar of a bikini dressed women in our kitchen at home. When I was...6 to 9-ish. I thought maybe because it's cold outside and women are usually somewhere the tropics, to remind us that summer exists.

Not sure which of my parents had that idea - and maybe I dont want to know.

It was discovered by the local art critics (my parents) and they ordered it removed, obviously because it should be shared with the masses in a gallery!

It takes time for critics to warm up to the art. Keep trying!
