What is your top most anticipated "confirmed" feature in X4?
I'm interested to see if we can get a large poll result back from the community about what the most anticipated "confirmed" feature in X4 is.
For the sake of the poll choose your top 1 but feel free to post top 3 in comment below like I have
1) New 'RTS' type map / fleet command
- I can't wait to try this out, it's one of the main things I feel have been missing since I first played X2, X3, and X:R and I'm glad to see it finally become a development focus. (I sort of want to count "teleportation" with this as imo they go hand-in-hand).
2) Wiping out stations entirely
- I can finally get rid of pirates in annoying places, or maybe play AS a pirate and take over sectors! Cool
3) Fly any ship
- This is going to be so much fun, it just isn't the same in X:R when you don't have 'direct' control over a capital ship. I want to be in full control of sending out drones, fighters, flying to a good defensive position etc. without using the often 'clunky' AI menu system to issue individual orders one at a time.

AFAIC race expansion and station destruction are the biggest changes, they will transform the late game into something truly epic. Late game goals was always an issue in the x games, with this change our games can go on forever, as long as there is some kind of mechanic that allows them to return of course (planetery populations?)

Agreed. I just hope we won't see any situations like pirates or Xenon wiping out AI factions who end up not being able to recover from it (or vice versa). Would be a shame never to encounter a certain race due to the AI being too agressive, but CBJ sort of hinted that they had this under control so fingers crossed.Axeface wrote:AFAIC race expansion and station destruction are the biggest changes, they will transform the late game into something truly epic. I voted detailed economy and by that ships/stations being created by trade and commerce, not just beamed in from nowhere,,, the constant stream of ships created from nothing made for the most frustration in my gameplay.
Research ... ? I hope that is not RNG mini games with searches for blueprints etc that more than likely will be of no use.....

Waouh, very hard to prioritise but here an attempt of sorting :
1) Most detailed X economy ever : a strong and coherent economic is a key feature. (including effect of OOS / IS combat)
2) Managing your empire with a powerful map ( I would say Interface). : mandatory to be able to access to all the potential of point 1.
3) Modular stations and ship upgrades (& GUI blueprint designer for stations) : simply a cool feature.
But others and ± already implemented features are still important

As an X3 player these are not newly announced features.BlackDemon wrote:lol that's rather cynical, are you not interested even slightly in any of the newly announced features?Graaf wrote:Of all options, 7 are to be expected for X4. And the other 2 are unwanted.
But most anticipated? None of the above.
You can say that having the ability to pilot all ships is my most anticipated feature, but do they also include the corresponding gameplay associated with piloting all ships? In short, do we get X4 gameplay or will it be Rebirth 2.
Research & Teleportation (and they said SETA was bad)BlackDemon wrote:Also which 2 features do you think are "unwanted"?

1) Races and factions can freely build and expand their empires
- Definitely my favourite, Competition with Rival Empires is important to keep things busy and interesting, just hope there is more to this feature, like actual wars, sabotage and Diplomacy Missions to end conflicts etc..
2) Modular Station Building
- To see unique interiors based on peoples creations and placings of modules will make things fresh.
I just hope modules go even further than living quarters, storage and production facilities? This is the grand opportunity to make everything from Trader Market Modules where Traders will flock (and receive an income through sales taxes if it's your module) to Casinos, Parks and Workshops for services.
3) Multiple ships
- Just hope the interiors have plenty of places to venture? And that things can be done inside, like help with repairs or something?

I like how he got out of his seat. Turned around, walked out of his ship, then on board another ship and got back in the seat and flew that one. Seemlessly. That looked great...
But I want more to the ship interiors than what we got in XR, where we just got out of our seat and then walked down a ramp without being able to see any of the interior other than a small staff room.

I'll agree with you, Graaf on teleportation. I've never liked the teleportation excuse as it just opens up a whole cargo hold full of complications.Graaf wrote:Research & Teleportation (and they said SETA was bad)
Walking
Walking I can get used to. I see it as a move towards something a little more realistic. You're not just a ship, you're a pilot, and a pilot would leave the ship and go onto the station.
As for research, you've had research in there from X-BTF ... or do you think discovering new sectors is not research? You can't order a ship to fly somewhere or to a station until you know about it.
