How to raise boarding score in early game?

Read some guides on hacking and then boarding transports. My problem is I have a boarding score of less then 20. I have an above average officer, and 50 green marines.

So what should I start boarding to get my rating above 100?

I'm pretty green at this game but have been reading a lot. Just trying not to burn out from such a slow start.

Marines have 3 ratings: Green, Veteran & Elite
They have a chance to gain a level of expertise each time they survive a successful boarding mission.
This is the ONLY way to increase the marine aspect of your boarding strength.

The important part initially is your Marine Officer
They have 3 skills
Boarding Experience is the MOST important and has the largest impact on your overall boarding strength.

Hire one with minimum experience value of 4 (5 is preferable)
Each skillpoint below 5 lowers your effective boarding strength (i think it's percentage based)

Random Reaver & Syndicate capital ships will be your early targets
Step 1 - Remove the fighter support
Step 2 - Remove the drone support (disable the launch bay)
Step 3 - Disable the Jump Device
Step 4 - Force it to boost away from friendly (to you) stations
Step 5 - Disable it's engines
Step 6 - Disable ALL surface elements (Guns, Shields etc)
Step 7 - Launch your 5 attack drones and reduce the hull to less than 15%
Step 8 - Keep checking the Jump Device & Engines are disabled
Step 9 - Launch your Marines
Step 10 - Recall your drones but maintain pressure with weapon fire
Step 11 - Recall your Marine Officer

Initially you'll be targeting Rahanas & Skyrvoks, then Titurals & Light Suls, etc.

It takes time and many successful boarding operations to achieve a highly skilled and competent boarding team.

Step 4 is achieved by reducing the shields and damaging the hull, station fire will help with this. if you attempt to board whilst it is still in range of the station, you will end up with 50 dead marines and a few seconds to scoop some potentially valuable salvage.

*IMPORTANT NOTE*
Allied ships & stations do NOT stop firing if you launch marines and will continue firing to attempt to destroy your target.

Suggestion for small changes to last few steps:

Step 9 - Launch your Marines once target Boarding Resistance is ~10 below your Boarding Strength (visible in Skunk info menu when Marines are still on-board).
Step 10 - Recall your drones but maintain pressure with weapon fire (to counteract the Engineer on the target repairing to hull).
Step 11 - Recall your Marine Officer (after successful boarding).

You can win with less thab 10 more than the target Boarding Resistance if it's not possible to get the value lower when target hull has only a few % left, but it results in more casualties and an increased chance of failure.

Never played AP; all X3 advice is based on vanilla+bonus pack TC or before: AP has not changed much WRT general advice.
