I haven't complained about Steam before. But lately they've taken a long time to let me access TC. I reload sometimes in the good parts so I don't understand why their advertising is so important every single time.

Can someone give me the link to the stand-alone version?

just install the latest Patch for TC over a Steam Installation. (best a copied one outside of Steams Control)

Copy the Steam TC game folder into a non-Steam location. Now, if you can, download the latest patch for the DVD version from the Ego website and replace the Steam TC exe in your new game folder with the x3tc.exe from the patch. That should work.

Oops, Ninja'd.

Turning off notifications, by removing the tick from the "Notify me about additions or changes to my games, ..." checkbox under Steam > Settings > Interface, should do the trick.
