Not yet, though I've thought hard about it. Back in the day, I used to host Twin Peak parties. A bunch of us would get together and have a few drinks/food while watching the show. Somehow, it just wouldn't feel the same and wouldn't be as entertaining for me, I don't think.

I wonder how that dynamic is working, today, with so much on-demand content? Before binge-watching, streaming services with their own content, all the different ways to get content whenever one wishes, you only had one chance to see a show. (IF you didn't record it on VHS...)

So, weekly parties like this were a staple of our group's interaction. I can't remember all the shows we followed, but it was a good bit. At one point, there wasn't a weekend we didn't have something going on like that. (Twin Peaks, X-Files, Star Trek, can't even remember all the stuff we'd used as an excuse.)

Anyway, it's just a thought. I imagine there are binge-parties as well and surely some shows still have people gathering to watch them together, like Game of Thrones. Still, it'd be interesting to see how this "old style" group dynamic has changed, if at all.

I guess critics aren't allowed to see/review Star Trek Discovery before it airs.

The Dresden Files on Verizon Wireless free streaming site. They actually added new content. It's about a wizard with a hockey stick. It's based on a book series. I was possibly cancelled early because the star got another acting job.

Babylon 5: The Lost Tales has been added also.

Not free but I guess it's information someone might be interested in. I am not sure if it's US region locked or what restrictions are on it. It would kind of suck to buy it and not be able to use it. Anyways you get Stargate SG1, SGA ,the two movies, SGU (I think?) and the new web series (10 episodes 10 minutes each, not yet released). $20 and good until MAY 15, 2018.

Dragon Age Dawn of the Seeker and a Mass Effect anime/movie are free to watch on Yahoo View. US region locked.

Star Trek Discovery on Netflix UK:

Mini review:-
OKish
Good production values
Cliched (main character brought up a Vulcan but human (has trouble with emotion and human relationships) and is Spock's Step sister -( not a spoiler as in first episode) :o etc )
Dodgy Klingons (But recognisable as Klingons)
Tech more advanced than TOS (i.e. ptp beaming, holograms)
Drive tech we've never heard of before (instant ptp jumping like Dark Matter's Blink drive)
Ok Titles and music which is bears more than a passing similarity to Alexanger Courage's theme music.
At the moment it seems to trying a bit too hard and the story is a bit predictable.

I'l carry on watching to see if it improves - it's much better than Voyager's first few episodes but that's not a particularly high bar.

Just finished watching the first eight episodes of Legion .... very confusing at the start, unusual and weird but still catchy.

Star Trek Discovery is ok. I have been watching it on various foreign Netflix.

- Having the Klingons speak Klingon is terrible. It's so boring and slow.

-The DASH drive is weird

-I don't like the main character.

-It feels more like Mass Effect than Star Trek.

-It's ok so far. Episode 3 was better than episode 1+2.

-Nothing spectacular but not bad. I'll keep watching all 15 episodes of season 1. Season 2 might not come until 2019.

The Orville is picking up a bit. The last episode had some interesting scenes.

Watched Episode 5 - it's definately trying too hard, list of exceptional Captains included April, Dekker and Pike (Surely something wrong with the timeline here!) . I'm afraid it's slipped to a "watch when really bored after I've rewatched B7,Farscape, TOS and Neighbours "

Whilst Redvers' opinion is as valid as anyone elses', I find myself disagreeing strongly. I'm rather enjoying it, and I think they've done a better job of starting it off than any of the previous series.

It has things I don't like, of course (I'm not a massive fan of the Chief Engineer, and I think the make-up artists have gone overboard with the latex, especially for the Klingons!), but it's gripping my attention and making me look forward to each episode.

The trouble I'm having is it seems so contrived and something feels wrong - I can't quite put my finger on it.
If I could convince myself it wasn't called Star Trek I'd probably enjoy it more. My wife and I sat and watched the episode last night and were totally unimpressed. I'll watch it but it won't be on my "must watch" list.

Comet tv now has Stargate Atlantis, Andromeda and the Outer Limits on their show list. Comet tv is run like a tv station so there's a schedule. There's also a roku app now for the US I think. US region locked? Works for Los Angeles , California , US servers.
