Not yet, though I've thought hard about it. Back in the day, I used to host Twin Peak parties. A bunch of us would get together and have a few drinks/food while watching the show. Somehow, it just wouldn't feel the same and wouldn't be as entertaining for me, I don't think.BigBANGtheory wrote:Has anyone seen the relaunch of Twin Peaks?
I wonder how that dynamic is working, today, with so much on-demand content? Before binge-watching, streaming services with their own content, all the different ways to get content whenever one wishes, you only had one chance to see a show. (IF you didn't record it on VHS...)
So, weekly parties like this were a staple of our group's interaction. I can't remember all the shows we followed, but it was a good bit. At one point, there wasn't a weekend we didn't have something going on like that. (Twin Peaks, X-Files, Star Trek, can't even remember all the stuff we'd used as an excuse.)
Anyway, it's just a thought. I imagine there are binge-parties as well and surely some shows still have people gathering to watch them together, like Game of Thrones. Still, it'd be interesting to see how this "old style" group dynamic has changed, if at all.
