[WIP/MOD] Direct Commands

Hi,

this mod adds an AI option to control a capital as close as possible.

you can fly up, down, left, right, forward and backwards

to activate call the captain you want to control -> more ... (5) -> "Ren says"
(can used from playerdock or in space, but external view have only a range up to 40km)

then you have a couple of seconds to close all menues and switch to external (F2 or target F3) view or only for "prepare to fly"

now should appear the conversation with the command -options
so you need to 1-3 to change what parameter you want to modify by 4&5
what parameter is selected is marked by the dot aside
select a selected option set them back to 0, you can adjust all from -1 to +1, only for speed forward, here you have +2 for boost

cancel the conversation sets the command to wait order

Epic.

If we're docked, does the existing limitation of External View, where target elements and the mouse are not displayed, still occur?

If it does, a workaround I have been using for fun without direct control:

1. Fly inside a hollow Capital ship, like the Arawn (safe)* or Sul (explosion risks).
2. Hit the breaks and go to External View.
3. Surface elements are available, and view rotation is fast.

or:

1. Be dragged/pushed by a capital ship behind you, through a gate.
2. Spawn inside the ship model and do as the above.
3. Supports getting inside 'solid' ships like a Taranis (not tested widely).
4. To get out, click on the ship's docking port while in External View and dock.



* This being particularly fun because you can switch back to the Skunk and launch yourself out to dogfight for the full Battelstar Galactica experiance :)

Have you tried this with a Sucellus? A Player could probably make that work well.

Regarding the 4.00 Flee feature, would that work with a directly controlled ship? I think it could be useful with a cancel option, if only for navigating around Toride and wanting to jump back to the gate areas.

the steering isn't that compfortable, but maybe you can handle the Sucellus with a some exercise

about flee, i don't know, not tested yet,
but i think this is managed with the higher player.default AI, so yes - the handler should engage
