How to improve CARTEL rep?
I have -14 with the CAR. Ok they' red, still don't attack the player ship, but my freighters.
So I like to get them friendly.
But how?
They offer no mission ('cause -14 is too bad)
I luckily found 3 Xenon K very close to their station. The K even hit the station, so I destroyed the Xenon - but no commend, no positive sign from the station.....
So what do to? I don't want to edit the save file for this yet.

They are always going to attack your freighters, no matter what.
If your freighter carries valuable loot they are going to attack it and possibly damage your reputation with them over and over.
The upcoming Beta Patch 4.0 fixed that you couldn't improve your reputation in Teladi space which didn't worked before, I think it is new to 4.0 but maybe it was fixed before, if so then this obviously doesn't work with pirates.
And I assume that you are not subscribed to the 4.0 beta because their Phoenixes would have killed the K's long before.
No matter what, even if you manage to improve your rep with CAR it will drop again as soon as some of your freighters hit their space.

On the other hand I could manage to improve my rep with another 'close-to-pirate' fraction, the ... dont know the name, they are the gundealers. They were -6 and one mission got them full green to me.
It's ok, as the CAR are red they do not offer mission.
BUT the main question here is why I don't get +rep for destroying a enemy close to their station? On every other station, Teladi, or Alion, or Canterra, Omycr.Ly. this is in effect.
And Xenon is for sure an enemy to CAR also.
Don't care so much about they might attack my freighters. I don't use them really as trading and special station building is very ineffective in XR, waste of money and time.

You can improve reputation with them via all the normal methods last time I checked.astreus wrote:On the other hand I could manage to improve my rep with another 'close-to-pirate' fraction, the ... dont know the name, they are the gundealers. They were -6 and one mission got them full green to me.

Pirate factions even offer missions off of normal stations if you skim over the stations surface (beta 4.0).
However, actually maintaining possitive rep with them has no benefit in the long run, unless you wanna trade with their mega station in the right side sector.
Editing posts since long before I remember.

Urgaras Armaments IIRC. You need their rep +ive until you complete the Teladi mission-specific chain, then you can go back to treating them as hostile or whatever..astreus wrote:the ... dont know the name, they are the gundealers. They were -6 and one mission got them full green to me.
You may not see it pop up, but according to patch notes (3.6x?) this bug has been fixedBUT the main question here is why I don't get +rep for destroying a enemy close to their station?
If you're not seeing a decent profit from stations you're not building the right stations for their area. Just as in X3, you need to analyse the 'local' area (in this case for product sinks vs resources available) for profit-making opportunities. The new economic stats graph may help with this; I haven't looked at it yetDon't care so much about they might attack my freighters. FWIW I have been trading very successfully (with little dmg to my ships) with Teladi Overwatch by placing a nav beacon in Empty Space towards Postern Gate. I capped a couple of MPs & use them purely for trade once they're repaired. When I spot a juicy deal at TO I send my MPs to grab the wares then move to that empty sector; I can then transfer to a suitable freighter for sell-off elsewhere with little risk, & the MPs go back to waiting for the next opportunity

I have not tested 4.0B, but in 3.x I just set up an empty space in FarOut, then use Marauder Phoenix to trade with the Teladi Overwatch, and then transfer the goods to a freighter in Far Out. Freighters are not attacked in Albion, if you keep PMC rep at -20, and you are not in the same sector as your freighters. (Don't know if this got changed in 4.0B)

The MP isn't a freighter, which is why I suggested the transfer occurs in your TO Empty Space regionVincentTH wrote:I have not tested 4.0B, but in 3.x I just set up an empty space in FarOut, then use Marauder Phoenix to trade with the Teladi Overwatch, and then transfer the goods to a freighter in Far Out. Nothing 'in game' worked to increase my rep with CAR. Total wired! Ok, gave it up and 'hacked' the xml file. Now it's fine, have a +rep.
I make the best of this trade ship attacks - to get MP. Let your trade ship fly, follow and wait until the next MP comes and hit the sack......ownership changed

As Snafu said above, Egosoft think that shooting things hostile to UA near their stations will lead to reputation boosts with UA. E.g. Xenon or generic mission pirates. It would not include shooting The Cartel ships that are hostile to you as they are neutral towards UA.astreus wrote: Nothing 'in game' worked to increase my rep with CAR. Total wired!
You can semi-force missions hostiles close to stations by accepting Patrol Missions in different zones as they tend to spawn hostiles in other zones, which could include near UA stations (I have not tested this in FO but it works in other systems).
If you didn't get rep boosts for shooting things near UA stations that are hostile to UA, it would be great if you could make a bug report in the beta forum, ideally with a vanilla save from just prior to the mission completing, here.
