is there a squad AI mod?

i dont like the part where i have like 15 figthers in my squad and all they do is follow me around and have to manually call them to attack a specific enemy just to do something

i installed UFO and LibMj, but the UFO's UI isnt showing up
but then i saw this
changes in 3.50 to facilitate ui modding support ironically broke current ui mods

Are you familiar with the Interaction Menu?

If you double-left-click on a object, a pop-up menu appears with a contextual menu. If you have clicked on a hostile target, "Attack" is an option that will be broadcast to your Skunk Squad. The target can be a ship or even a surface element like a particular weapon so the option is quite handy.

I'm not familiar with a Fighter AI mod though. The Carrier mod & MoreCarrier supplement for it might be of interest to you. It lets fighters land on the Arawn (plus Suls & Gangrene Chaser via the supplement).

yeah but that means i have to micro-manage them, each time i tell them to attack, then after wards they ask for "whats my next order sir"

... i could reply i would say "c'mon guys you are 3-5 star pilots with brains, just attack the next enemy thats 10m far from us"

Hmm, I see what you mean.

It is easy to order "Patrol Zone" or "Attack All enemies in Zone" to all ships in the Skunk Squad at once* but I presume that means they start floating around the zone, somewhat randomly attacking things that they are close to and potentially ending up spread out (or at least strung out if they have uniform speed).

Yeah, a mod that ensures fighters stay close the Skunk while performing the above-style orders would be great.

We could group them into a sub-squad(s) and have the squad leader(s) follow the above commands but that falls down as soon as a leader dies.

*Property screen, select SKunk, (3) Broadcast, (4) Attack ..., options.

i just witnessed one of my squad gets randomly attacked and destroed while none of his comrades help him

it has to be ME who has to help him... what?? why are you not helping one of your own??

why isnt this basic AI not in the game?? (one of ours gets attack, ALL allies should go aggressive mode on the attacker)

My approach to this is to put the squad as whole into one group and use the first entry of this group as leader - because if a object in a group is destroyed it's automatically removed from the group so the leader always refers to a valid object (would need a change of scripts on the new leader if the old dies, but thats no problem)
there is a short time where the followers are technically in no squad (until they update this information) but practically they would still work as squad - at least in theory, haven't written a single line yet and will be a while until I do probably

Ich mache keine S&M-Auftragsarbeiten, aber wenn es fragen gibt wie man etwas umsetzen kann helfe ich gerne weiter ;)

I wont do Script&Mod Request work, but if there are questions how to do something i will GLaDly help ;)

I have the feeling that your other projects/modder support could bear more interesting fruit so no problems there.

well, maybe, but i doubt it since i am progressing very slow.. (started more than a month ago with the Manager Trade Script and still consider it not release-ready, but slowly progressing towards this)

ok, i am using a completely diffrent structure than most other Scripts (its intended to be the base on which i want to re-build all NPC behavior from scratch) - and i want to do this properly by thinking not just about what i want to solve now, but already thinking multiple steps ahead.. (i think i create more ToDos when adding functionality than i implement..)

having a small ship fleet is kinda useless in this game unless you appoint them on a large ship with a def commander

they are dumb as **** and dont even help their own, the rest of the ships just go on standby

my first solution when facing an small squad of enemy ships was the combat drones, but they are expensive and easily destroyed

the second was the small fleet ships, but they are dumb asses

my best solution even agains more than 7 small ships against only me are the ~Astrobees~, gotta love these guys, they have their own AI and will relentlessly chase enemy ships
