Unable to give Succules cargo lift drones?
I noticed this when buying one, can't put cargo lifter drones on the Succules. I can't transfer them from another ship or buy them at a shipyard when I try to modify it. What gives, is this a bug

I don't think I have seen Marauder Sucullus in vanilla but if the drone bay is destroyed during boarding, we cannot add drones to a ship until the drone bay has been repaired (which isn't very obvious when it has occurred due to the layout of the ship info window).Requiemfang wrote:funny because a Succules has 10000 units for cargo and 150 drone units slots, although the Marauder Succules can't have drones at all, I tried when I capped one to put drones on it via transfer from another ship and also through shipyard.

That 10000 cargo space is for Fuel and only fuel (probably the same with the Balor too). I think it was since v2.50 that Cargo drones could only be added to ships with cargo space for non-Fuel cargo (i.e. Bulk, Liquid, Container, Energy).

Indeed. And it makes sense. You shouldn't be wanting to put cargo into a warship.Roger L.S. Griffiths wrote:That 10000 cargo space is for Fuel and only fuel (probably the same with the Balor too). Though I still want the ability to transfer missiles to my capital ships, or have them purchase directly from the dealers when I choose how much (they could just use the same pods as the skunk uses when buying directly from a station dealer).

AFAIK, if we want to transfer drones "as drones" (e.g. construction URVs from a fleet ship to a captured ship), they have to be transferred by cargolifters so it would be convenient to be able to carry cargolifters in the current game. Ideally, construction URVs could fly over but I don't think that is how things are implemented currently.

How about they just unpack themselves on the cargo vessel and fly out the cargo drone bay?
Or remove the requirement for BOTH vessels to have cargo drones, if there is that requirement that is (I am not 100% sure that is the case).

I remembered seeing this elsewhere, and I think this is your problem that has now been fixed:

Succelus and Balor have now had drone bays added to them as they should have had originally.
Looks like you'll need to get the latest patch (maybe only on beta build so far, I'm not sure which build it actually went into).

Added dronedocks to the sucellus and the balor. The next patch should update your ships. Have fun Wink

Only one ship needs cargo drones to transfer cargo.Roger L.S. Griffiths wrote:...

Have a great idea for the current or a future game? You can post it in the [L3+] Ideas forum.

Just to check, does the Gangrene Chaser have a drone bay we can use too?
I read in that earlier thread at the time that the Gangrene Chaser had a drone bay. Although yesterday in a vanilla 3.52 RC2 game (started in 3.51), I found one without any drones. Whereas when I see Balors, they always seem to have 15 constructor URVs.
Thanks,
Sparks

Also, since when has a Cargolifer URV, or a Construction URV for that matter, EVER used the drone bay?
The only drones that visually deploy through the Drone Bay appear to be combat and mining drones, others use the central ports on the left / right side of the ship.
Personally I quite like that "basic" drones are integral to every ship and use the side bays, whereas "specialist" drones, such as those for combat and mining, use a separate bay that's vulnerable to attack. I think the ship dynamics should reflect this more and keep said drones separate. I.e. if the drone bay is taken out, any Cargolifter and Constriction URV's are preserved.
Note that while these central left / right drone ports can be visually destroyed, they still appear to work just fine.
Scoob.

lol those left and right drone bays on the Succelus need some moving, currently it's clipping into the model.

For freight transfer to other ships, including fuel and drones. It is particularly helpful for capturing. My Arawn provides security after a capture, then dumps over construction drones to help with repairs, and some fight drones for defence, then I only ever have to worry about topping up one ship with drones.BlackDemon wrote:I still don't see why you need cargo drones in a fight ship with only 10k 'Jump Fuel' space (it's not cargo space).
