Deadly Skirmish is going to change in the next version. You will fight Xenons and every faction will be in the battle. The big problem I have with Deadly Skirmish is that the battle issue is very random. I have done many tests, and as you say, sometimes it's harder in Very Hard than it is in Extreme.

In Sabotage and Wanted, I need to have fast ships. It would be ridiculous to have M1 and M2 as bounty hunters, or as a rapid response fleet (or maybe if they jump in...). In Surgical Strike, that could be more understandable.

Anyway, as I said earlier, the 1.50 will have a lot of core changes. It will be a perfect occasion to start a new game with LU 1.3.5 :)

EDIT : and yes I'm always open to suggestions. If it wasn't for all of you here, I'd have give up a long time ago...

I've only tried a few Deadly Skirmish missions but I've noticed that escort fighters can spawn outside a large ship with a docking bay. The large ship then sits at 0 m/s until the escorts have docked. As the Cyclops can dock ships, perhaps this was the cause.

I've seen this too. Scoob asked what range within which a ship will react to a hostile (in main LU thread) but I didn't see a reply from Litcube/Jack yet. Perhaps being too far away could contribute but I wouldn't know.

In Deadly Skirmish, the enemy is attacking the faction you defend, and this faction patrols the sector. There was a valid reason for that, but I don't remember :)

Hey Joub, sorry I couldn't post that screenshot. I'm not home right now but the menu allows me to build OWPs, big / medium / small, but I have 0 option concerning wave strength. Just the option to switch from attack to defend.

one odd thing I have noticed, is I just started and I am in teladi creditania.
half my missions are for missiles, weapons and food that are not teladi in origin.... is that supposed to be that way?

teladi wanting to eat c-rations just seems odd....

For missiles and weapons, it's normal ; I want diversity.

For Teladi's food, I just don't know what they eat :) All other races ask for their own food.

diversity is nice.... but right now they may as well be asking for space caviar with only 10 sectors explored (by me anyways).

is there a limit to quests in the list? it's filling up fast with ones i can't complete yet.... 6 missions just for c-rats so far.
when I find that factory it's gonna take a few trips to fill em lol

No limit. Food is always gonna be the same (and in the next version, it will be Meatsteak for Teladis), so I suggest you stop accepting those missions if you don't know where to find C-Rations. But it's not that hard to find, don't worry :)

haha ok, good to know.... can you make the quest list hide-able as well ?
no more c-rats for teladi's until I find the motherload hehe

oh and this definately takes getting used to doing quests this way, but it makes it easier to track them.

just found a bug, when scanning asteroids I scanned another that I passed onto the designated one. the next asteroid it wanted me to scan was the one I just scanned.

but it corrected itself once I scanned all the asteroids a new one was created to allow me to finish....

found a real bug... while scanning asteroids I was on very edge of system and got stuck.
couldnt turn or move... said I was going 35 but I wasn't.
tried to jump but said jumpdrive wasn't installed, double checked and it was.
had to reload from earlier save.

any way to cancel or abort a mission?

What was the sector ?

When you reach the edge of a system, you crash into an invisible barrier. I doubt it has anything to do with XM-R (asteroids never spawn that far).

There's no way to abort a mission.

yea, that sounds like it... it is scale plate green.
possibly increasing scan asteroid range could avoid it in future.

when I zoom out to see more of the map there are 4 or 5 asteroids that are off the grid and a few right on the edge.

And 2 of them that it wants me to scan are off the grid.

Another Bug... just got to the Moon and was able to pickup a taxi mission even though I can't dock at 0 rep.

Not really a bug. In this version, the fact that you can always pick up missions is intended. In the 1.50, it will change. See the changelog in the first page.

Be more precise, what are the coordinates of the asteroids you cannot go to ? I cannot reproduce the bug.

Hi there,

Feedback from trying just 2 Hacking missions so far. Just the 2 as only just starting to do factional stuff, so not sure if representative.

First one was against Paranid and was probably "very hard". Target was a Deimos and the defenders were a few waves of smaller fighters. Really enjoyable and I liked the difficultly of trying to do mission and extract my ships without too much collateral destruction.

Second was "Extreme" against the Split, with waves being masses of fast, tough fighters and perhaps an M6 (may have just been a pissed off local). The defender waves were quite good, although the hacker was so far off that there wasn't much time for later waves to get to it. Perhaps it needs to be a little closer or with a longer, final timer. The target was aTiger this time, which isn't bad (if an M1/2 then the rewards may be too high) but meant that the mission was easier than expected. I suggest adding a few escorting fighters, perhaps an M6 or two. That would boost the difficulty of that part of the mission compared to easier versions.

I still had a save file from when I was on the scanning mission.

I am doing missions in terran space.... I now remember why I rarely visited terrans..... damn stations are huge and scary when trying to dock since docking computer always shows me 10+km away from them when I am about to dock.

will freight drones or transporter device be usable to complete missions in the next iteration?

Thanks for the save, will look into it.

Freight drones can already be used to finish Trading missions. Every player ships can do that, even for passengers.

Love the idea but noob question incoming: Does this lock any cool mission types out? I've not seen many "Golden Opportunities" for a reliable dataset but I though they had only been of lower mission rank.
