I've been trying this with a m7m and a centaur with ipgs and ion disrupters . This used to work well in TC and reunion but I'm having no luck. The boarding pod is blown to smithereens always!
Has anyone tried the thresher with ion cannons ? does this work?

DrBullwinkle wrote:Boarding is basically the same in AP versus TC, so the TC guides are still relevant. The main "trick" is that AP has better missile defense turrets, so you will have to be extra careful about that.
One technique that works well is to suppress the target's shields from the player ship (a Deimos with ISR's and EBCG's in the front guns is the ideal pirate ship). Remotely command your M7M to board from a distance (10-15km or more). The M7M will not launch pods until you get the target's shields down.
The reason this trick works is that the enemy's turrets will prioritize *your* ship rather than the incoming boarding pods.
While not a guide, I have answered many of the most frequently-asked questions about boarding in this post: Marine Tips

once you launch the boarding pods, launch a few flail missiles and then hit seta..... seta helps prevent them from hitting your boarding pods. You may have to try a few times, but you'll get it. Immediately after they land, launch a few more flails to take down their shields.
If you are having problems, try adjusting your distance to the target
