Every NPC and tons of AI ships leaving errors in this file causing lag.

You can safely delete this file if it causes problems. We have a fix for it coming up.

Deleting it seemed to give me a significant performance increase...

To be honest, I'm not sure. It shouldn't, but then again it shouldn't be as big as it is for some people, and I'm not sure what effect that could have.

Edit: So that we can check this, can the OP, or anyone else with a very large uidata.xml, upload it somewhere so we can take a look?

I know why its doing it however its also causing serious lag for me and I hate to delete it every 5 or 10 minutes.

If you really want to prevent that file from growing you could take a basic version of it, set it to 'admin rights only' with read-only access to non-admin and run the game from a non-admin account.

Its a decent bit of effort if you aren't already setup to use such an account and ideally that patching effort will fix this any ways. Even if they split the bug log off of the ui settings file that'd be a win. Laaaaazy programming for the win, again.

I have to keep deleting the uidata.xml over and over even with game version 1.15. After playing for a while I get massive lag (3fps) and the game becomes unplayable.

I delete this file and the game plays fine again??

A while later the same thing.

I have sent the uidata file to info@egosoft.com I hope you can work out why this is happening.
