People really need to stop throwing around these terms "unplayable" and "broken". It's neither (since they mean basically the same thing). I'm playing right now, as are literally thousands of other people. I've dealt with the few bugs and issues I've encountered, and am enjoying myself.
Now, if you don't like the game, that's your perogative. However, that does not make it "unplayable".
Bugged != broken.
I'm onto my third start, even with the trading work arounds (editting the save file), after capturing the converted Prison Ship I have no Cargo vessel to get the 300 food. The Construction Ship has no cargo loaders and there is nowhere to buy them. I suppose I could sell the Prison ship that now has a broken Hyper-drive and no Engines but how does more money help when what you need to buy is nowhere to be found?
The game is playable but it is very broken.

The difference is that the officers of the Construction ship are hardcoded, and doesnt appear on bridge like those npc you hire and put on ships.Dr2i wrote:My construction ship defended itself when attacked by a PMC fighter.
It had a captain, defence officer and an engineer. The defence officer was on "defend" command.
I have noticed that too and i'm exploring the save file to see what is the difference.

I'm naturally unfriendly sometimes. Don't take what I say too badly.
My ships dont do jack all...
BUT, last night for the first time my Constructor ship released his swarm of drones I had upgraded him with earlier in the day, I was in disbelief!
I was at the Devries gate in Albion shooting at anything red and forgot to kick the caps out of my squad, well the constructor showed up and I figured it would just WELP itself...Well it got real close to the Pultarch Warden and when that happened it released Drones.

My Taranis Destroyer just got a massive improvement with Patch 1.14:
Previously I was at least able to use it as a glorified taxi to jump me all over the place but now that I've managed to get my fleet into Albion and tried the same trick, the game just froze.
Might have been due to testing the 'fixed' engineer behavior which I was trying out. If anyone has even a remote clue what this 'fix' is meant to achieve, please do share!

They fix damaged systems now (including engines), which along with the boarding notifications fix means you can board and claim capital ships properlyArchitekton wrote:Might have been due to testing the 'fixed' engineer behavior which I was trying out. There is a attack/defend option?! o.o
I've logged a huge amount of hours into this now (68) and I have never seen this option, if someone could say how to do this it would be amazing to me. (if it's with the defense officer I haven't had the option. :/)
More on topic I haven't been able to get any of my ships to fire on anything yet, basically I'm using my taranis to soak fire for me while my shields regen xD

it is with defense officer. go ship details. expand the managment branch. the defense officer normally would have a command "defending" there. select this and click "details" at the bottom right. then select the "defending" command and click "change" in the bottom right. then it should change to "attacking enemies".deathowl94 wrote:There is a attack/defend option?! o.o

Wasn't mentioned in patch notes. Cap ships likely still a bullet sponge. But a sponge that can be repaired so they are more durable bullet sponges
Is it confirmed that we can repair our ships now? Not just from what they say they fixed?
Yes components (shields, engines, weapons etc.) are repaired. The hull is not. I do believe this is intentional. Hull has to be repaired at ship yard.
off topic: Why does quoting still show up as bracket tags for me after posting?

Excellent. 1 Down. Now lets hope they fix the Defense Officer so we can go and wage all-out war against the PMC. Usually I'm a more peaceful mindedSunofVich wrote: Yes components (shields, engines, weapons etc.) are repaired. The hull is not. I do believe this is intentional. exploring gamer but this time I just want my Capital Ships to make those NPC's pay for looking like they do. I wonder why XR brings that out in me.
I managed to finally get my ships to defend themselves AND me. Only way to actually do it at this time is to download and install the Manual Command Extension Mod.
http://xrebirth.nexusmods.com/mods/59/?
It adds manual commands that you can give to your ships currently in your squad.
It was recently updated, so newer commands are now enabled for combat. However, it is still in early alpha, so it may be buggy.
Oh and it adds manual commands to refuel the jump drive without having to install additional mods or go into your save and edit the contents of your ships.

Installed the mod, checked if its enabled, OK.
Order my Balor and Hvy Sul to escort me which they did.
Attack a station and it opened up with it's large batteries.
Nice sight. Unfortunately neither Balor nor Hvy Sul returned fire.
No drones were launched either.
Tried the mod on my Taranis (purchased, not via the Plot).
The order commands are greyed-out from the getgo.
Am I doing something wrong?

Try setting it to Patrol area, then say escort me, and see if that helps.Architekton wrote:Installed the mod, checked if its enabled, OK.
