How do I register a second hand copy of X3 Reunion?

If you can prove that you're the legal owner of the version, contact one of the admininstrators (for example pjknibbs) via PM and ask for the key to be transferred to your forum account.
There are some versions of X3R, which were released without a key though (see this topic for reference). Also registering your game is by no means mandatory anymore, since all X3R specific forums and downloads are accessible by anyone now.
