I have been told that there may be a gate inside an asteroid in Heretics end so I have been trying to blow it open with hornets and MDS to no avail.
What am I doing wrong?

to destroy an asteroid - get the mobile drilling laser. Works perfectly.

This particular asteroid is indestructible by the usual means (missiles, MDS), per the plot story. To find out about an alternative way to destroy this asteroid, the mission guidance system suggests that you go and ask a mining specialist.

HQs of the major mining corporations might be a good place to look for one. ;) At least that's what Captain Chaos would do. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUUo5beYZ5s

I went to the one in Albion delta and they wont let me dock. Also there is nothing of interest at PTNI HQ mining. If there are more can you hint as to where they are please

i didn't get the notification to seek out the mining specialist until i had properly wailed away at the asteroid by conventional means - maybe you just need to give it a few more missiles or mobile mining shots to get the message?

Ah this is interesting as I have not had the notification at all.
When I read about it here I thought I had just missed it.

after shooting missiles at it and moveing away I got the mining speciialist mission. he is at PINI HQ

The only condition is for the player to attack the asteroid - I never had it fail to update after launching a single silkworm missile at it, so a hornet should do the trick.

A gamesave would be useful to see what's happening if possible.

Irrelevant, as once triggered this 'side' plot runs totally independent from Corporation Troubles.

Ok its near the asteroid how do I get it to detonate?
