The 2 new Split ships look terrific as personal ship. PALC-Pteranodon with 8 main guns should snipe every capital ship with ease. Acinonyx with amazing speed, 12 main guns, ability to use Hammer Heavy Torpedoes, and an M7 class weapon generator seems to be an overpowered personal fighter.

I started a new game for them. I prefer Acinonyx but it will take a long time to acquire it, which means the Pandora crates floating in private sectors would probably be accidentially picked up by NPCs.

So, will you choose one of them as your main personal ship?

You should change the poll, to add:

- Both
- Hyperion is still my favorite
- Acinonyx, overtuned only
- Pteranodon, overtuned only

In my opinion, the Pteranodon especially needs rudder tuning, because you have to aim the main guns, and circle-strafing (at battleship molasses speeds of course) needs to be possible.

EDIT: Pandora crates are only in pirate sectors, and as of my last game, it took at least 5 (playtime) days for me to go pick them up (2 weeks RL time); they hadn't disappeared. I avoided entering the sectors, but I don't know if that has any effect.

Probably not.

I generally find Capitals too unweildy to fly, but I still like to have the abilty to carry to a spare JD or 2, which is why I usually play Poisoned Paranid in TC.

I've only just started really playing AP since the Shady Business update (& am on something like my 6th restart already), & want the Terran PHQ, so I'll be grabbing a Chokara ASAP, & fly that until I manage to steal my 1st Hyperion (I also like the Hyperion 'cos I really like EBCs for hunting with).

@ajax34i: Pandora crates may also spawn in the normal UFJD sector generation.

As a tangent, about capturing Hyperions:
Spoiler

In X3TC, I would just set an M5 to follow the NPC Hyperions, so I could quickly detect where they were.

However, with AP I noticed that the Hyperions periodically stopped and flew around as if trying to avoid collision with my M5, even though I was OOS and collisions should have been off. They never ventured into pirate sectors.

Telling M5's to stop following, and using satellites for tracking the Hyperions, as soon as I did that they bee-lined for pirate sectors. So maybe AP has some special AI scripts for following NPCs, I don't know.

Just a heads-up.

Acinonyx. Unless you're in the Xenon sector, M2 is not the ideal ship to move around even with the docking bay.
Before I got the Acinonyx, I spent most of the time in Heavy Dragon, so I guess moving into Acinonyx was a logical step Smile.

I am not a combat type player.
I tend to fight if I have to,but avoid it if I can.
However I chose the "path to peace", but I could not get it with a couple of battles, for which I chose the Acinonyx.
It works well when fully fitted.

Until then my ship of choice would have been the Hyperion with two M3+s added.

Neither. Aci has low cargo, for me a player ship needs at least 1000 cells on hand - then a heap of missiles, some marines etc. Hype-V or springy are the only non-annoying option for m6 in the regard. Pter can snipe but that is generally only good for the opening barrage (which you can do anyway switching to a turret) after that turrets are the most effective, they can target while you dodge ppc fire.

Acinonyx- is that an M6? Is that the ship you get regardless of which side you pick? Confused

Astraesus (orwhat) is the only "main ship for me but in averrage fights i have an m3+ docked for personal use. 3 other similar m3+s homebased. Also i have the fastest M5 there too if needed. Still have 1-2 room to park captured ships. With the new ship given with the 3.0 plot you will be dependent on regular E-cell resupply. Speed, flexibility, and "endless e-cell in the cargobay is my way of X life Very Happy

Python is still the I WIN ship for me in Xenon sectors since Reunion. Maybe i will replace it later on for a Tyr.

4 pair of main gun is more than enough. A shield buster pair. A hull ... ... A fast fighterkiller ... and the most powerfull one that can be mounted. OFC Weapon Groups used too Very Happy
