No Modified Tag (easy to install)

Post by Burianek »

Download from site in my signature.
It's called No Modified Tag.zip

I can't take any credit for this.
It's all work done by Storm Front, and Someone_Else (that's his/her nick)
I ran across this solution on xscripting.com and I thought I'd repackage it to egosoft's new mod making standard.
(If we're gonna defeat the tag, we might as well use their standard)
Anyway, all you have to do is extract the zip file to your root X2 directory. That's it! No fiddling with / extracting dats involved.
This will create a new option in your startup screen, it's the select mod package button.
Select the no modified tag option. Bye bye...
Best thing is, when egosoft gets rid of the tag by themselves, there's no uninstall process. Just unselect the mod in the start screen.
Hope this helps.
(Like I said, praise Storm Front and Someone_Else, they came up with it)

If you use this 'modified universe' to remove the tag, does that mean the story will be disabled in that game?

There is an error in the scripting docs egosoft released that states that any mod will disable the plot. The only thing that disables the plot is starting a new game in a custom galaxy, or using the galaxy editor. This involves changing map files.

using regular scripts or mods will not disable the plot, only galaxy changes do that

Please spread this info wherever you run into a misinformed person. There are plenty of confused people out there.

Thanks for posting such a simple implementation. Shame egosoft couldn't be bothered to respond to the complaints and do something similar - after all, we were not asking for a major change.

I think this script should now be added to their official scripts, egg on face comes to mind then :)

What is the point of making this an official script? If you only use offical scripts this script is not needed, and if you use this script there is no need to use official scripts only... :?

The sense of this script (aka mod)? Easy, if ya activate the scripteditor, the 'modified'-tag burns on your screen... without any use of an official or unofficial script - think of it.

Absolutely brilliant stuff, all who were involved. I just love the sheer irony of using their new "Official" Mod system to defeat their insinuous banner.

Awesome job guys! :)

Second page of the community scripts and plugins.

Here is the mod; http://www.4shared.com/file/39900418/7d ... d_Tag.html

It being a mod you will have to place the items from the folders in the specified places and then select it as a mod package.

Good gaming.

What's the point of this?? It has never bothered me that there's a modified tag in my games. I actually never even notice that it's there.

I can understand people being purist about it... like if you make a mod and don't want a stupid tag on the screenshots, but...

Suppose that is the reason. The X-series is quite popular for custom video content.
