[MOD] A New Dawn v07-10-2013 for X-Tended -Terran Conflict v2.1

hi

for some time now i have been working on a little project.. its far from complete though..

now while i was playing a Xtended game i had the feeling a few things where missing so i thought i add them myself.. ofc soon the little project became something bigger then expected.. thats the way it usually goes with little projects..

so whats this project all about you ask.. well, simple to add things to the universe to make it feel more complete.. like racialised turrets,
racialised docking/launching bays,... and ofc some extra ships are always welcome.. like Cadius ship pack or the one made by Killjaeden for example.. all complete with racialised turrets, replaced turret dummies with real working ones, racialised hangars, cockpit compatibility and engine effects.. how would that sound..?

so, my original goal was to add Cadius Xtra ships, Killjaeden's Shipexpansion along with a few other shipmods to a Xtended modded Terran Conflict game, right now i try to combine all the good stuff made by several talented people of the community.. one made cockpits, others made turrets or ships etc.. lets try to combine them all into one Xtended universe..

Also, i bet you all know Black panther group XSP downloads website..? well, there where a lot of great ships on that site, i have included some of them into this pack.. these forgotten ships, as i like to call them, are too good not to include them.. only problem is getting in touch with the creators of these beauties.. some are included whitout permission, should there be a problem, i will remove them.. authors will ofc get full credit for their work..

so, after working very hard the last couple of weeks im proud to present the next version of New Dawn for Xtended Terran Conflict..

A/ Install instructions: (make sure you do exacly as instructed, dont install any "t" or "script" folders, just the .cat and .dat files..!)

Make sure you have a clean unmodded X3:Terran Conflict install on your computer to use with this..


= Download and install X-Tended-Terran Conflict V2.0 from
http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=293490
its very easy, use the .exe file to install the mod..

= Download and install the X-Tended-Terran Conflict v2.1 patch found on
http://www.thexuniverse.com/threads/239 ... Manual-2-1

- just download the package and extract the patch zip file into the folder of your X3:Terran Conflict installation that has XTC 2.0 installed (the folder where your x3tc.exe is located)

- after you installed the Xtended mod and its patch, grab the three last Dat/Cat (they should be numbered 14.dat/14.cat, 15.dat/15.cat and 16.dat/16.cat, if not, you probbably dont
have a clean install..) files and cut/past them somewhere safe where you can easly find them again..


= Download and install [MOD] X3TC/AP ITS-PSCO1-Shawn Cockpit MOD V6 - 24.01.2012 from
http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php? ... sc&start=0

- extract the package somewhere, go in the extracted folder, find and copy the files called "ITS_X3TC_AP_CP_Basis_6.cat"
and "ITS_X3TC_AP_CP_Basis_6.dat" and past them into the main Terran Conflict Directory.. Rename them to the highest number after
the last package.. The last package should be numbered "13" if you have Terran Conflict v3.2 so you should rename the packages to number "14"..


= Download and install Killjaeden's Shipexpansion V1.7d from
http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php? ... 2ea906a8ee
the link is located on page 9..

- same method as above.. name Shipexpansion_V1_7d.cat and Shipexpansion_V1_7d.dat to the next number.. so if the cockpitpack was renamed to "14",
rename this one to "15".. place them inside the main TC directory..


= Download and install Cadius's X=Tra Ship/Station Pack from
http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=308762

- same as above and rename them to the next number (in this case "16")..


= Now go back to the two cat/dat files that you safely stored away and rename them to the next number (17.dat/17.cat, 18.dat/18.cat and 19.dat/19.cat in this case..) and
place them back in the main Terran Conflict directory..


= Rename the Cat and Dat files in this pack to the next number (20.cat/20.dat and 21.cat/20.dat in this case) and copy/past them inside the main Terran Conflict directory..


= Enjoy..! (please forgive me my sometimes bad english.. :) )


=> This mod is not yet updated to XTended v2.2 but you can still install the latest XTended version and play this mod, just make sure that the files in this mod are the highest numbers in the game folder..

=> you can always suggest a mod for inclusion in this pack.. there are only a few conditions:


1. no copyright sensitive material (no stuff from other games), everything has to be 100% fan/community made.

2. it has to be a ship (or perhaps station) mod, im no scripter and i cant possibly figure out what scripts will conflict so i am just not gonna go there.. i realy dont know what im going to do with Cadius's scripts from his ship pack.. :s


B/ Future perspective

=> Release a version without the cockpits (To do)

=> Combine as much ship (and later perhaps station) mods as possible.. (In process)

=> Racialise all turrets on every single ship.. (In process)

=> Add engine effects on all ships.. (Almost done)

=> Create and add unique engine sounds for all ships.. (In progress)

=> Create unique shield models for all ships in the game.. (In progress)

=> Create new ship models for all vanilla TS/TP ships for all races to make them unique.. (In progress)

=> Add as many "forgotten ships" as possible.. (In process)

sometimes i was not able to have contact with the owner of the ship, therefor in some cases i dont have a explicit permission from the owner to add the
ship to the pack.. at the end of the readme, at the end of the Credits section, i listed all of the ships that i wasnt able to contact the owner from..
should there be a problem, are you the owner or do you know the owner and the ship has to be removed, i will do so immidiately..
all owners will get propper credit for their work..

C/ Known issues: (please feel free to report any bugs and glitches you may encounter during your game.. i will fix them as quickly as possible..)


- Some of the newly added turretmodels have strange positions on the ships.. this is due to the fact that i just replaced the names in the ship-scene files..
i will reposition them in the future.. (In process)


- Sometimes there are two versions of the same ship, this is due to the fact that i added the ships from Cadius to Xtended but i hadnt had the time to merge them yet..
this will be resolved in future versions.. (To do)


- Terran, Xenon, Khaak, most of the pirate and Yaki ships: hadnt had time to do anything with them yet.. (In process)


- Argon Mamoth TL is available in the Teladi Showroom, not sure why..

AFAIK, XTC will automatically add any new ships to shipyards and jobs, so I don't think you need anything there. adding to the mobile shipyards or factories, however, requires digging around in the script files- I did it once for a TC-updated version of that awesome M1+ Yorktown, but I can't remember how to do it just now. and sad for you, But I allready thought of the X-pansion ship-pack for mine- which reminds me, once I get to releasing it (should be ~2-3 days on my ****** internet,) you're welcome to use any assets from it, so long as I show up on a credit page somewhere.[/b]

hmm.. i have been looking around in the universe and none of the added ships are listed in the shipyards trade list..

In your instructions you say that we must have cat/dat files to .16

I have checked my non steam installed x3 terran conflict version 3.2 and with the XTM version 2.0 installed which loads correctly when i run the game
i have not installed the official addon pack for terran conflict but when i checked my folder where .cat/.dat files are the top numbers i have are
15.cat/15.dat, does this mean that i have a bad install ? i have no other mods installed at all and although i own albion prelude i do not have it installed atm.

i am working hard on a update, and its coming along nicely..

some ships are new while others come with a nostalgic touch.. :) i have also a experimental craft.. looking at some of the ships in other games like Black Prophecy and others, i was intreagued by the fact that the ships change in apearance when you upgrade them.. i wanted to try this in X3.. ofc its not as extencive as in other games but.. ..

how about you buy a simple shuttle craft..

and you where able to upgrade it until it was a bad ass heavy fighter..

the shuttle's appearance changes when you upgrade its offencive systems.. you can make it as evil looking as you want.. :twisted:

also planned for the next release is the inclusion of some new weapons with the help from F.A.B.'s awesomefied weapon effects and a few other ships like the Argon Gigantis M1 and hopefully a script that finaly adds the new ships to the shipyards and one that enables ship building on the Boron Giantsquid mobile shipyard..

btw has anyone tried it yet..? if you have, let me know what you think so i can anticipate future releases on the thoughts of the peaple that are going to play this mod..

But, with all due respect, your ships aren't lore friendly. Totally alien designs. XTC creators put a great effort in keeping everything complaint with the lore and such mad experiments are ruining it. Please stickk to the X3 race designs solely and stay away from any Star Wars, BSG and other Star Treks.

I think that's the purpose of his mod. To add all the other ships that the creators of x tended cut because of lore. To me its an awesome addition to a good mod.

tbh, i know what you mean and i agree completely.. but.. the Snapdragon and the Hex are just a little bit of fun with a nostalgic touch for some of us and the Ark Blade shuttle/fighter is a kind of experiment of mine.. :p

dont worry, most ships will be lore friendly..

problem is, to make ships as detailed as they are in the vanilla game and Xtended, you have to be either a hell of a modder or kitbash parts of the original models (wich i love to do, you never know what you come up with :p ) but with kitbashing, the ship is never truly your own design.. and im not good enough to make lore friendly new ship designs like they did with Xtended.. i did make the Paranid TS Hephaistos from scratch.. do you like that design..? or is that too alien too..?

and nope, no BSG, SW, ST, Bab5 or other franshise ships in this mod.. perhaps i will add compatiblility for some mods if ppl want me to, but its not in the original concept..

EDIT: a little update on what i have been working on today..

have you never asked yourself why all the races use different ship designes but use the same TP people transport section..? or the same TM dock section..? the same cargocontainers, ok, its unified for ease of use, but the other parts shouldnt be the same..

how about we change that..

I tried installing all the mods the way you instructed, by installing only cat and dat files, no scripts or t files nnot even the ones found on your mod?. but some ships dont appear and the laser added by xtended aren't register on ships even vanilla ships.

Im going to try again with a clean install, just so I can make sure I didn't do some thing wrong.

well, ofc you have to install the scripts and t files included in this package.. :p
what i ment where the ones you downloaded with the other mods.. im working on merging everything, but not everything is fully compattible yet and i have to test the scripts and stuff from the other mods before i can include them.. i merged the text files found in the T folder with the one from Xtended..

what exacly do you mean with "lasers arent registered"..? if you mean that they dont have name but are read as a readtext0001 something then it means that the text file in the T folder is not installed, to solve this just extract the package and copy/past the T folder into your main 3x:tc folder..

about the ships, wich ships dont appear in your game..?

as i stated in the install instructions, you have to install this stuff on a clean install.. Xtended NEEDS a clean install to work correcly.. the mod changes almost if not all aspects of the game so this is VERY important..

I was using xtended during my first attempt, but I had modified a few things such as missile speeds. I had a backup of the original xtended cat dat files that I applied beofre installing your mod.

What I mean with the lasers is that they dont appear listed under the info of ships, and when they are and I load cyrows cheat package and attempt to place them the xtended lasers aren't on the list.

i understand, but this is a addon for XTended, i mean to move forth from the great mod they brought us.. and their phylosophy is not to change anything from the game, just expand upon what Egosoft gave us, so that is my goal aswell..

but.. that said, i wont exclude the possibility that there will be patches that makes this package and the Xtended mod compattible with other modpacks.. but that is in the future, right now im working hard on a update.. :)

First new ship of a new class, the M3TS.. small freight transport ships for moving freight from one capital ship to another.. The Argon M3TS Caterpillar (i saw this idea somewhere but im not sure where..)
