Homesector, cargoship, nice carrier and more
Moin,
here`s my first try. Its all packed in a little mission-rope, so its not THAT easy.
http://metuelisator.bei.t-online.de/Heimat_V14.zip
Edit: Changes in V14:
Carrier can hold Stations
Carrier can mount PSG`s now and has 6 instead of 7 Shields.
"modified"-Tag removed.
The second Message now comes only if you land on the right station.
some smaller bugs solved.
Give it a try and say if you like it.
PS: don`t be too picky with my english in the text, should be enough that you understand it ;)
The readme: (new readme in DL)
Mod: Heimat (for X2 Version 1.3)
---------------------------------
a mission about a home-sector.
What is in there:
1. A mobile warehouse which looks nicely and also can carry a good amount of wares.
2. Own (but no new one) sector with good connections.
3. A flagship that earns the name and you cannot buy.
4. A shipyard which sells rare stations and ships.
5. Now the Split M6 dragon has 2 front weapons.
6. Now the Boron M6 Hydra has two front weapons with max. 2 Beta PPC.
So that it is not too simple, I have packed all that into a small mission rope.
Tip: do not forget, you should equip won ships as quickly as possible.;)
Installation:
-------------
Make a new folder named "mods" in your X2 root-directory, in case it isn`t already there.
copy both Heimat_V13.cat and Heimat_V13.dat in the mods folder.
Should you have deleted / renamed your X2 cat/dat`s, rename my cat/dat. in 01.cat / dat.
and then copy in the X2-Folder.
Start:
------
In X2 startmenu click "select mod-package", mark "Heimat_V13", OK, start X2.
Start a game (can be a savegame), open the Scripteditor and start the Script "Heimat.xml".
If it should not emerge in the scriptlist, you must load it first (press "L", then give "Heimat" and RETURN).
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thanks to all modders which have helped me with all the probs.

Hi, i just downloadet your mod, but i'm a bit confused how it is supposed to work.
You say something about putting it in a mission-rope? Is it a BBS mission i shall be looking for, or is it one that will come down the storyline?
It could also be me, who have installed it wrong, or didn't start it the right way. Is there any way i can see wether or not it is working?
Don't get me wrong, i love the idea about it's not something i will get delivered on a silverplattern, i would just like to know a way to see if it's working, so i know wether or not i screwed up the way i installed it.

Moin,
np, perhaps i should have cleared it out. When you start the script "Heimat" as i wrote in the readme, you should get an "incoming message". Read the incoming message and do what it tells you.
If there are further probs, ask here.

I got it to work now, and got the first message, it is pretty early in my game, and i'm still floating around in my little Disco. I have only just got back from the mission where you get Mi Ton in Atreus Clouds.
I flew to the Goner temple and docked to speak with that goner guy to get the "Scan Gate" mission. When i docked, and talked to the goner i got your second message wich said something like:
Maybe i'm wrong, but i'm not supposed to get the second message until i arrive at the destination, right?
Maybe it got triggered by the fact that the original plot also gave me a mission at that point.
So far your mod looks good, and i look forward to see how it's gonna end, but something tells me that i will need more than my Disco
Maybe i shall just wait to load the mod until i actually thinks i can handle it.

btw i'm using the UK version of the game
P.S. sorry for the spoiler tags, but i don't want to spoil it to anyone who would like to play your mod as well.

The message told me to get to Mitsu Fune well-armed, so i thaught i would continue with the plot line, and get a decent ship, before following the instructions from your mod.

"It was about time....." A pretty long messag. It soundet like i was in Mitsu Fune allready. I also got the feeling it was pretty urgent. I'm guessing that it is not your intention to give the second message until i arrive at the Boron Trading post in Mitsu Fune.

Yes, you should get a better ship first, should be at least a M3. And yes the Message shouldn`t come up when you land at the Goner-Temple, must be a prob with the other message you got. But anyway, you can take any toime you want before doing what it tells you in the second message. You can even go there and start but not complete it and come back later.

Well my ship froze after I got the first message. Ejecting and re-entering it solved that though.
Update: Well I went to Getsu Fune and landed in the Royal Boron Trading station in a Split Iguana (my usual ride, A Teladi Osprey wouldn't fit but was parked just outside in case of trouble) and I didn't get any message.

It can take some seconds for the message when your in the station. If i remember it can take up to max. 10 secs till the incoming message shows up. Had done it this way coz i build in a @wait 10000ms in all while/if loops, the game needs some time itself. So try to wait siome secs and say if it worked then.NeverSnake wrote:Well my ship froze after I got the first message. Ejecting and re-entering it solved that though.

I had to reinstall the game since voices weren't playing properly and now it won't load up a saved game with your mod enabled without crashing.
Edit: Nevermind. I just checked the mods folder and it seems I had copied the .cat and the .txt file rather than the .cat and the .dat file.

I got the second message fine this time and I fly out to the unknown sector west of Getsu Fune and killed the four Xenon Js. I didn't get any message when the last one died and I'm not sure what I'm meant to be doing now

Well I managed to run it all the way through by starting it again and selecting null rather than one of my ships.
The flagship is just a heavily upgraded raptor. The mobile warehouse is the Xenon M0 model (although it seems mostly untextured and doesn't have a cockpit).
The carrier upgrade does seems a little overkill. Maybe 400m/s speed and 10% turning would be better. Maybe make the turrets hold only one or two weapons but have GPPCs all round (and maybe GPSGs too).
Some goodies on it like a few fighters or a couple of new bits of equipment would be nice too.

I'm a bit confused. I've installed the two files, the .cat and .dat files into my mods folder. Selected it before starting X2, but no Heimat scripts show up and I can't LOAD something that isn't there.
At no time do I ever see a Heimat.xml file in my Scripts folder.
I don't have a clue what I'm doing wrong. Please help!

Moin,
@Pandion: well when you got the second message before landing in Getsu Fune, then in Getsu Fune nothing will happen (yet). Just do as the second message tells you.
@Phoenixblade: The carrier is the model of the split raptor and it don`t replace any existing ship. So its unique, means you can`t buy it. When you buy a split raptor, you just get the normal.
@Neversnake: thanks for the suggest, i thought it should be clear for everyone to press "null" when starting the script and not "select ship".
I mentioned it in the readme now.
For the carrier: Hm, it didn`t feel overpowerd to me, as all the turrets don`t fire together. And i don`t wanted to give it better handling, it should feel like a carrier.
Jump in a Khaak Sector with it, wasn`t uber for me there;)
Seems all get the second message when they land anywhere, not just on the station in Getsu Fune. For now a simple "fix": Just read the second message, its not important where you get it and do what it tells you.
