Components research SDTYPE's, X2 and earlier
Hi, does anybody has X2 or even older titles installed (i don't know since when this file was used) and could look into the components.txt for me?
I'm looking for additional types of SDTYPE_xyz (e.g. ANIMATED, DOCK,...) that where available, in the hope to find one that has to do with missiles.
If one exists, it should be possible to move the missile launch point away from it's default position. There is a flag for this in the bod structure, so this function has existed in the past, but i don't know if it was used in components, and how.

I do not see a components file in either XBTF or X2.
The earliest components file that I can find is in X3R 04.cat. Does that help any?

Same I just did a search for components.txt in CatFiles.txt (for X2) and it was not there. In the X3R version of components.txt there was nothing with SDTYPE in it at all.

hm unfortunately no, as it is won't have more entries then the x3tc/ap one...
Ah damn. Makes sense, the extra parts (that little cube you get if you import x3r ships) are without use, therefore require an entry in the components to work. That means, the flags the extra parts have make no difference at all... le sigh.
Thanks for your help.

Do the entries have another group then? Or are they without any group (SDTYPE_DOCK would be the group for docks, the number behind as the number of entries that follow)In the X3R version of components.txt there was nothing with SDTYPE in it at all.

There is nothing in the file that says SDTYPE at all
http://pastebin.com/6pKGM9w5
That is a copy of the X3R vanilla componets file if you want to browse though it
(Tell me if this breaches copyright or something and I will remove it)

well it's SCTYPE there, which does propably exactly the same (in x3tc bodies.txt there is also a SBTYPE, i guess B for Body, C for Component and D for Dummy... )
Someone said x2 doesn't have components, instead it's all combined in bodies.txt or similar, could you take a look there?

I went though the X2 files and there was nothing called bodies.txt and looking though the files there is nothing there that has a similar structure to components.txt.
Well there was a was a file called BodyEffects.txt but it does not look like what you are looking for.
This is its contents
