Background Stories to the Games

Hi All, just bought X3TC
I'd really like to know the "Story so far" with the plots from previous games
Is there a summary written up anywhere?
I'd rather not have to play hrough the older games just to catch up with the story..

Has there been any kind of narrative/background written around the game plots, I thought I saw mentioned in one of the bundled game packages some kind of a PDF/book, or was I dreaming?

There is indeed such a thing as the X-Encyclopedia, and you can get it here.

I think you may need to register your game with Egosoft first though, which I believe you can do through your profile page.
