I second that question. I wish it is still possible to harvest PBC's !
The way it is phrased, it sounds like what was fixed is an issue specific to the menu (the bothersome exploit), not laser towers.

Fake patches are simply one method of setting up a savegame-go-boom situation.

The real cause is that core content files change. Something like TShips.

If your savegame contains an object of shiptype #510 but due to the patch, the current TShips only contains 499 shiptypes, the game will crash when trying to load this out of bounds object data.

Your savegame is not automatically screwed up. File it away. If you install a v2.5 updated mod on top of the current vanilla game, the old savegame will load normally.

Kurush your a genius, i made a backup of the whole gaming folder before i let it update. can anyone confirm that would work?

You would probably be the best person to confirm, considering that you have the file Smile I never managed to master this particular exploit myself and don't know where to enter that negative number.

well ill see if i can get the chance to sit down for a bit tonight and try it, just went and hunted out the file (from version 2.1a) will backup the new one and give it a try.

as for the exploit itself you enter the "-" on the quantity to transfer via the freight drone. its honestly so god damned simple its slight disappointing it was missed by EGOSOFT for so long.

Likely because they follow the time-honored "Don't fix it it's not broken" concept in its most reliable "unless somebody complains" variety Smile I can only confirm that this is the file they changed to fix it after looking at the script code.

okay well ive pulled that file but also the other files relating to freight as well, just incase. ill try it soon and see what happens. if it fixes ill see about uploading the files even if it makes it modified, means people have the option!

Playing the Terran Commander start in AP 2.5 all I can say is how much I'm missing the mosquito missile. No mosquitoes in Terran space means no mosquito missile defence. I've managed to pick up a few (well 4 to be precise). On hearing the dreaded missile warning, my heart just sinks! Trying to turn a Katana to shoot it down is so painful. Not only that, as you are turning you get another half dozen warnings. I just pray my turrets can bring them down. Then I find out that they are all swarms so I just bang my head on the table and wait for the inevitable outcome. Usually one of the larger missiles that, during my dispair, I missed Betty reporting.

So please Egosoft, (you can't see me, but I am on my knees), please make patch 2.5a very soon so that mosquito missile supplies are available in Terran space. Pretty please! Pretty pretty please! Smile

Any stealth fixes in this patch?

Such as a fix to the Convoy Mission (script?) bug, that slowly fills the universe with idle m4 escorts? Or maybe something else?

I get that the point is to flesh out a war storyline from both sides, but also don't really care for the divide this is creating between starts which, until recently all held the same potential. Now if I want to play for example, as a Teladi I'm locked out of the Terran side to this plot despite having no affiliation with regard to aiding Argon military.

Aside from that does completing the 2.5 plot under an Aldrin (Aldran, whatever) Adventurer start enable the war announcements Terran Commanders get? Like how completing the Argon plot with any Commonwealth start unlocks the Argon war announcements? I'm pretty far into an Aldrin game and would prefer not to lose out.

And finally, that's deviously good thinking with the freight transfer script 'backup' from before updating if you're trying to stay Vanilla, I may just try that myself! Razz This does seem to be the exploit that allowed us to get PBCs in greater quantity than 2 back in the day.

Now I know absolutely nothing about scripting etc. but when a script is updated won't it have a version number. If so, will the game work properly if the correct version is not found?
