Looks like you're right.

I suppose for completeness it depends on the attack angles as well.

Suppose ship C can't get both A and B in a firing arc, but chooses A as
main target, because he wants to go down in a Blaze of Glory for the Federation

Then it's possible A gets up to 50% damage and B gets off undamaged.

In any event, I don't want to be cap'n of ship C Skull :
p(C surviving the engagement) = 0

Cool. I agree that two friendly AI ships against two enemy AI ships - it's just down to AI, and it's all in principle equally strong, though of course smaller details may affect the outcome. Personal control, against AI as it stands, certainly gives the player-owned ships a better chance of survival. This is just a roundabout way of saying "player > AI", right? And I certainly hope for smarter AI too - I think we all do! =P

I'm all cool with this - I just don't see how moving to remote control as opposed to getting into another ship by yourself exacerbates problems with AI. This is what I thought samoja was saying, but it looks like I completely misunderstood. My apologies!
