Hey gang,

I'm still warming up to AP and understanding all of its functionality.
I bought the 'System Override Software' and was eagerly looking forward to using it, but I can't figure it out.
I thought I would just pull close to a ship, press a button and presto!

Could anyone give me a run-down or point me to a guide on how to utilize this software and what exactly it does?

(I DL'd the war pack with TC and AP from Steam, but never did find an instruction book pdf or the like)

Thanks

The SOS is not really useful in my opinion. Everything it allows you to do is claiming ownerless ships from your ship. So, if you find an ownerless ship in space or convinced a pilot to leave his ship, you don't have to eject from your ship anymore to claim it. However you still have to fly to the ship pretty close (30 m, depending on the ship size the distance might be greater), target the ship, open the target menu and select the claim option.

In the Downloads section you can download the X3: Terran Conflict manual explaining the basics of X3TC, which also apply to X3AP, and the X³: Albion Prelude Survival Guide covering the new things of X3AP.
