Hi folks

getting back to my X2 game and time to get a decent ship; I find the Nova is not up to much. It wont stand up to a swarm of Kha'ak...etc. My weapons cant hit the little guys; and the main ship will quickly destroy me unless I have already gotten rid of the little guys. So I have to stand-off and use wasps.
I find them annoying and irritating. I'm trying to work on the economic side of the game and they keep pestering me and taking up time to get rid of them; which breaks the flow of the economic work.

Anyway my question is about the Centaur...can I dock it at stations to buy stuff?

M6s in X2 can only dock at shipyards and EQDs, unfortunately. You need to take advantage of it's M5 docking slot to ferry stuff from other stations.

Thank you Vim Razz
I presume from what you say that M6s can dock at fabs in X3.

Yes, they can. But they were nerfed in X3. So, they aren't the uber-ships anymore which they were in X2.

Hi X2-Illuminatus
What's the personal ship of choice in X3?

I am just about ready to embark on the main quest line in X2 and I'm already looking forward to X3.

That depends totally on who you ask, what the current mission is and what their credits status is. Wink

Going back to the original question, the Centaur is a bit average--it's better than the Hydra and the Nemesis, but Dragon and Osprey both eat it for lunch. (Admittedly, flying a Dragon is a fairly unique experience--with most of its firepower in its turrets, you basically fly it to ensure one or other is firing at the target at all times, rather than attempting to use the single front gun).

^But the Nemesis has several great things over the Centaur, speed and PSG!

As I remember, a dragon was getting eaten for lunch easily by a basic Kha'ak cluster because of poor shielding compared to Hydra. And Hydra was pretty OK - I spent most of my time in it in X2.

The Osprey looks good in the 3D viewer....but it says that it's not sold at any shipyard...does that mean it has to be captured?

The Dragon has only 1x125 MW shield...the others have 2; and the Osprey 3.

But the Centaur looks good for starters. I havent explored much beyond Argon space so far. Been busy with getting fabs up and generating some income. Any time I have wandered off to explore I soon have to jump back to Argon space to deal with the Kha'ak pests.

If you were getting eaten for lunch by Kha'ak clusters while flying a Dragon then you can't have been flying it properly--I did the entire X2 plotline in one and had no problems. Were you trying to shoot them with the front gun? Like I said, that doesn't work so well in a Dragon, you have to rely on the turrets.

Ships with Mass Driver or Phased Shockwave Generator in the turret can be good against Khaak. Both has it's advantages but PSG users may experience reputation loss if friendly forces nearby.

Unless you play an old version of the game, it should be sold at Teladi SY.
