but to a degree, the Sohnen/Ancients/Outsiders are unknown to us... you kinda breifly meet a Sohnen, but thats like "knowning" what fleet the UFO's are scouting targets for 
other races such as the Won thats mentions in the Encyclopedia are still by rights unknown to us too.
the races we are talking about for all the are "known" to us, are still "Unknown" at the same time

This could be referring to the Ka'ak or the Xenon. Both are pretty much gone already.

have you played AP? the Xenon are stronger than ever... yes the Khaak are gone but thats no biggy to bring them back if they wanted.

tbh i think the xenon are now controlled again looking at the ship designs of drones etc. mabye martin winters had a master plan and foresor a time were we would need fleets of AI to survive, just not complete genocidal rampaging AI lol

not sure what you mean by controlled, but its not the Xenon who attacked Earth, it was a new breed of AGI developed in the Commonwealth.
the Xenon appear more focused but i think thats just to do with the scripts are now working the way they should have been before, not something more ominous like a master plan... perhaps we could see a new breed of CPU ship and say its the reason they work properly
