Deimos is all about using its heavy shields to get in close and tear stuff up with its PSGs. It flies completely differently to all the other frigates because of this. I'd recommend keeping both flaks and PSGs onboard so you can use the flak in friendly populated space then switch to the PSGs when you're fighting lots of baddies - they're the main draw of the ship.

Yeah, its also annoying cause i cant see the enemy when firing those PSG's so i cant dodge fire.
But ill get used to it, and adapt

If you happen to find IBLs, you could mount 4 of them, that would extend your range to 5km, and at least give you a fighting chance vs. other capital ships.
I love flaks though I have nothing to say against them, they have quite a damage burst (24mj dmg per shot), instant hits, more than 1 per turret (obviously on ships that allow them), a weapon range of 2.1km and a tiny burst radius (helps against the Kha'ak Clusters). No Friendly Fire issues, tear up pretty much everything smaller than an M6 (them too).
I have (in my game) 12 Tigers, main armament is ISR (because I can't find ANY IBLs in my game, except for the 4 I have on my Personal Tiger) and the rest is all FAA.
Since I use my fleet in conjunction with a Condor, and 2 Panthers, anything with a large burst radius would get in my way, more than help me.
You also could mount some ISRs on your other turrets, for anti-corvette firepower. (Also aren't toooo bad against other Frigates... eats their weapon energy hehehe).
It's your call though

solution to diemos problem... turbo booster.... in missions where the enemies come to you this isnt needed but as Master of the Blade said its all about getting close and unleashing hell.... with the shields dodging fire isnt much of an issue (unless fighting M2s)
the loadout i use is :
main- 2 PSGs (turned off if friendlies are near) 2 ISR and 4 CIG
right/left - IBLs if you have em FAA/PSG if not (switching based on friendlies)
top/bottom - FAA/PSG (switching based on friendlies)
rear - 1 CIG 1 PSG (set for missile defense
it can destroy everything m6 and below no problem and can usually tank most M7s as well (i think my best run with this load out was a station defense with 3 carracks end of which i still had ~5% shields after ramming the last one ) and it can even take the odd galleon/brig as long as you get on its six within PSG range

Here you go guys, a new chapter, unfortunatly its rather small however i posted an updated Property list, and i had some fun wit the deimos!

Chapter 21: A big bite.
Well, today i jumped into aladna, Seeing as i was looking for more pilots, and marines, and weapons..
Seems i got none of those, but i got one hell of a problem
See i took a patrol mission.
And the first ship to jump in.
is a xenon K.
Oh. my.. God...
Well, i need to kill this, but charging it will not work..
Hmm...
An Otas Boreas nearby? heh ok
I fired 10 wasps at the K, then bolted for the boreas
I followed the boreas for awhile, both the Bor and the K headed right for eachother.
At 5km both the K and the Boreas opened at with their frontal guns. and Good GOD that K tossed out alot of fire.
But with me firing my PSG's*Being DAMN careful not to hit the boreas* we took out the K, i didnt ge the kill bonus but *shrugs* im alive. that will do for now.
After this i took an Average protect station mish, enemies were comign from the east gate so i whacked the jump button and jumped right into the middle of them..
And wow....
I just sat outside the east gate, Grabbed a bowl of popcorn, and watched as the M6 swarm.. Like theese popcorn pieces, were popped in a nice explosion.
Hell i had time to go take a leak, and do a tax return, and by the time i came back, no more M6's.
After this i found that my mistral located two more PSG's for my ship.
Hmm.. i need more of those.
And i need to locate 2 more 1 Gig shields.
After that i jumped into Split space, where i got a mission for the destruction of a Convoy. for 2.5 MILL.. not bad. 2.5mill EACH?
BINGO!!!
With that done, my split rep almost down a rank, i then get an assasination for 2 mill.
And wow it was a ride.
jumped into Family pride, into 5-8 M6's
Started firing off my PSG's
The M6's were slagged in a minute, and a few remaining fighters gone in another.
Ok i take back what i said..
This is true power, And i love it.
Oh well, time to get some sleep, tomorrow, we go hunting for more Fodder.. God damn it. i mean Pilots.

hahahahhaha.... told you... giant cones of DOOM!!! i couldnt of made it to the last OFF mission without it.... even though the last mission required more firepower (in the form of a M8 wing)

Hehehe, yeah last OFF mission was a bummer for me and my Shrike, thought it'd be enough, but nooo, 3 Kha'ak destroyers wanted to have some fun... soo I got together some credits, and showed them some nice NEW (or well, rather old, but good) Teladi tech in form of a Pheonix with 24 Gauss Cannons HA!

Ok well i WAS going to post, But ive hit a bit of a wall
You see, i was flying in Hativahs faith.
When i see headed south
a PARANID ARES
no ISL or AF or watnot,
Took out the escort, got the men onboard. 10 marines
But they keep dying..
All 1-3 fighters, wit 3 stars or better on everything, and they keep getting killed!, i spent ages training them up an i spent just as long trying to get this ship, and they just wont capture it! *screams madly*
srsly what am i doing wrong?

they are too weak in fighting... train them up to 3-5 stars fighting and you can take it with 10 (and maybe a few reloads) easy targets are TLs (especially civilian ones) otherwise you can try and use some fodder troops (just buy 10 more marines and dont train them at all) donno how well that'll work tho....
landing them is the hardest part of boarding once they're inside its just a numbers game with a RNG.

Gah, why make boarding so freakin annoying.
Didnt take me long to get them onboard however.
I just blocked the south gate with my deimos, Turned turrets of and let fly with Har'O'Wing
Good thing i saved before hand tho...
Guess i need to practice on other ships.
Ive heard stories that M6's stop still when u've burned off all their weapons.
True?

i have also heard reports of that but i dont use IonDs so i cant confirm or deny.... more equipment on board the target more chances for profitssssss....
it just sucks to learn (kinda like the X series) but after you have it down its easy... it becomes way WAY easier with a M7M also but u gotta get one 1st.... i actually think space walking from a M6 (vs M6) is one of the most fun experiences this game has to offer though....

Competition is good for the quality
And yeah, it's true, a weaponless M6 will just stop
Also, again, boarding is kinda frustrating ^^ I think it's that on purpose, to stop people from making waaaaayyy too easy credits. And look at the logic of it, do you really think 10 average to good marines could take a military grade ship? With quite a lot of people on it? Hacking and stuff like that is of no use if the personnel of that ship are also average fighters and just swarm you
Anyway, good luck boarding the Ares!
