Some ego soft employee needs to "leak" something under a fake name, either here or on another gaming site. We still have games con, but more than a year after announcing TNBT, I'm getting the distinct impression that this game isn't happening. I wish they'd cut the crap and give some real information. The silence that game companies do is frustrating... I've seen forums and games die in ways very similar to this., it's worrisome.

And since people seem to confuse things. IT IS NOT THE SILENCE THAT HURTS EGOSOFT. IT IS THE SILENCE ***AFTER*** THEY WERE LOUD about the project.

I mean they could choose to give nice progress reports, maybe have some semi-closed beta line etc. OR they could choose to keep it shut and just release the whole thing when it is ready.

OR (as twist of the second option), just say they are making this, give a "generous" (to their dev team) release date and stick to it. If they see that they cannot follow that date, give a nice sorry to their crowd and give another one.

This stupid (sorry cannot find another word, I really WONDER about their marketing dept.) thing about giving a date, not following it, then give some other game (which is actually more of a mod), get cash for it, stop giving even a vague renewed release date this time around, but give some scarse info (based FOR SOME UNKNOWN AND UNEXPLAINED reason on VERY old data - hmmmm) and then... decide to drop this too... (with only a small post after quite a push from fans, from a company member that they are actually "still there")... well yes, it is stupid. People (shall I say fanboys?) can go and find excuses to this all day, but the facts remain.

I am sure the visitor traffic of the forum has indeed dropped.

Let's hope the game is indeed released in ~10 days like some on-line shops report. Else people will need something more tangible (not a single liner from CJB) before GC. Else it is quite insulting for the fans (non-fans, plain casual gamers will just not care if it is delayed or ever comes out).

I think you need to have a little faith in Egosoft doing things their way based on lessons learnt from previous releases. They know what works for them and I'm afraid that comes with compromises.

Get yourself wrapped into another game for a while if you are getting cross, I can recommend DayZ mod for ArmaII:CO or DCS BS2 if you're into the sim thing + you can get yourself a decent Hotas ready for x Rebirth

I still find it pretty unbelieveable that you stop getting repeated screenshots and instantly rage about the lack of information. On no, we've had no screenshots and no more information, and they weren't at (games meeting x /convention y), suddenly it MUST not be happening! Egosoft must have gone bankrupt and not told any of us! We're all so insulted... Speak for yourself. I'm not insulted, and I'm sure the majority of fans aren't either. There's no release date... that means it'll be out when it's finished, and they don't know what it's going to be finished, that's all. Not that they've all died and it'll never be released...

My entirely personal opinion follows.

I have concerns as to what effect the cumulative burden of so many vociferous negative comments on offered gameplay innovations and decisions, sales and support strategy and even on the game's commercial and technical viability might have upon the morale, job-satisfaction and retention of members of the probably compact yet professional development team employed. As to what effect that in turn might have on the end product and its likely completion and release date ....

Personally, I hope that not very many of the dev team read this particular forum as they do not deserve much of the treatment they receive here. I hope I am wrong to be concerned of course. The majority of their supportive and eagerly expectant yet patient fanbase are, I suspect, not so vocal here.

Don't you get it? It's all psychological. Negative criticism makes the devs want to blow us away even more, they'll work the extra mile to show us all wrong.
