I think that Ariadne is by far the best as it can carry the most ships and a TS to fix the low cargo problem, Maccana is decent, but nothing special really

Given that there are at least 4 "best" drone carrier ships - depending on who you ask - the balancing of the "class" can't be too far off. =P
Personally I'm no great fan of the Maccana. It's pretty but I can't get over the generally boring terran weapon selection.

i disagree.
the way i fly my maccana is superior to the way i fly the cormorant, therefore the cormorant is trash that should be reworked. |
this is all down to style of play again, and the last thing im going to do is tell another player their way of playing is wrong, especially one with the experiance you have demonstrated on here.
my style of play never puts a Carrier (M7C, M1, TM or TL in early game) into the fight unless i cant avoid it. for me a carrier should be kept out of the fight and use its fighters to do the bulk of any attack. if my carriers are involved in the fight its usually as an artillery support craft or by using missles for stand off purposes. fair enough the Maccana can use Wraiths which would be good as a stand off missile launcher but it cannot function over range the way the Cormorant can so it doesn't suit my play style.

Ariadne is the best light carrier in the game when you take it solely for purpose since it does carry the most fighters. but again my Cormorant does carry 1000 FD MkII which i wouldn't be able to do in the Paranid offering (obviously thats not accounting for the TS docking). as well as not having my prefered Artillery ability the Cormorant can offer. but that is purely opinion!!

See, when we play, we look for two totally different things. When I buy a military ship, I buy it with the intention of it performing a frontline task, regardless of type. Ok, M7M excluded, but still.
I see the Maccana as the most frontline capable ship. Good shields, fast, lots of guns. Plus, Wraiths never hurt. Well, not me, anyway.

The Guppy os the best of the class for what I use it for. It has the best rudder of the new ships along with fastest speed and best shields. It hilds a TS which is huge for storing additional ammo and jump fuel. And best of all holds 12 extra jump drives so I can continue to board more Terran ships until I get bored.
That said, if the Elephant didn't turn so slowly, I would prefer it. Right now, I have one CLS2 drake keeping the guppy stocked automatically after a boarding op, and I have a second drake with aCLS2 script docked at it, where I have to manually run the script to fill up after each op. It only takes a minute, but the Elephant would remove one of those steps if it would manuever better to follow me better in combat.

doesn't that then apply to almost every Terran ship then? i personally have the same veiw... i pretty much always play as an CoP player... even the simple matter of Cap ship weapons, i can choose the PPC/IC/IBL/GC (obviously depending on ship) but i have more options which i like. or i get a Tyr and i have the PSP and the oh.... yeh PSP

this is exactly what i have said... everyone is different, dont get me wrong there are some poor ships in the game, take the Yaki Akuri, considering there is the Cerberus that can simply outgun the Akuri and the Astraeus that can both outgun (Back turret) and out pace (albiet only 2m/s) as well as the Akuri having a pitiful 3 ship hanger i just personally cannot see the benifit of that ship other than from a role playing position.

why not start UFJDing and find rudder upgrades for the Elephant in order to mold an Elephant into what you want... thats if you have found your normal pandora crates already, dont get mewrong though, by my rough work out in my head it would take roughly 25-30 more rudder tuning to match the Guppy could take you a little while
