Repairs

Post by amore555 » Tue, 21. Feb 12, 16:35

Hey guys, still learning the ropes here.

On X3TC When your ship is in need of repair, it seems you have two options, repair it yourself with the laser, or dock at a shipyard.

Problem is the shipyards want something like 18,000C per % of repairs!

So far I have taken to wedging my CTRL Key down and going for a dump!

Am I missing a much more effective way to repair my ships?

Eat less fibre, you are are going to need to spend more time taking a dump.

get your ship to crap out a SETA and pick it up in your astro suit, then go for a dump and wedge down the control key

Yes, but you have only 10 or so minutes of air supply, divide this by the SETA factor.

Plus you have to buy a new SETA each time as it disappears when you enter the ship.

Which is stupid if you ask me. You should be able to keep any upgrades you pick up. I mean what the hell's the point of being able to double your suit's speed to 28m/s if you can't keep it? X-x

It is 10 minutes when you already divided it, otherwise it is about an hour I think.

spacesuit is destroyed when you enter the ship by game engine just like satellites/jump beacons/etc thats why upgrades are gone, and the reason for max speed being 28 is because it is used by marines

So, barring a massive underdose of fibre or millions of credits, my options are sitting there repairing after each battle, or finding a lil mod.. Anyone know one?

A few off the top of my head:
Marine Repair mod and Nanite hull repair. You also have Mobile ship repair , but then you need a ship capable of mounting a repair laser (most M6 can mount repair lasers as their main guns).
I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of how awesome I am :D

Once you have your PHQ, you can repair ships there. Though by that time money will probably be no object. ;)

If you're in a spacesuit, and want to go somewhere in a hurry? Strafe. Want to go somewhere in a real hurry? Double strafe.
