[AP] "hold position" & "dont launch fighters"

Post by swatti » Tue, 21. Feb 12, 14:36

Im using a pair of capital-ships as a meat-shield in my capturing-endeavours and one of them has fighters inside to cleanup and escort my new boat back safety.

Question is, how do i stop them from moving when being shot, they just ram me or the capture-target. Also, how do i keep the carrier from launching fighters.

I don't know about AP, but I think in TC you can just tell them to Idle instead of Stand By. In Stand By mode, they will manuever. I don't think they will in Idle and am almost positive they won't do anything with a "None" order existing.

IIRC, in TC, if the fighters are not home-based to the carrier, they will not launch in defensive actions.

With "none" the ships will retaliate and attack... Got to test out idle and standby. That homebase-idea sounds good.

Big thx.

I have this problem as well. I jumped in a few carriers and a M2 into the pirate system next to Maelstrom (can't remember the name) just to try a capital ship battle since I hadn't actually flown any of my M1's or M2's I have capped. While the fight went great to begin with, I found I could not control my fighters well enough to get them to attack close by and not spread out where I couldn't help them. Also, I couldn't control the other capitals well enough to keep them close by while still attacking the other ships. it seemed to be a one or the other thing. I know if I could have controlled them the way i wanted it would have been an easy victory, but instead I died to a Brigantine since everyone was so spread out at the end of the fight.

Any way to force fighters to dock? Any time some stray-bullet hits my fighter-wing, that one ship flys off to get vengeance... Ofc thru a terran assault-fleet. Eclipse pilots do have a massive set of "cohones"

Just the opposite, in fact. 'Idle' causes them to 'idle' around the sector. 'Standby' causes them to stop everything they're doing and await further orders. I use standby all the time when I want one of my ships to come to a complete stop and not move.
Have a great idea for the current or a future game? You can post it in the [L3+] Ideas forum.

Nope, "Idle" or "Standby" dont work. In both cases ships wonder off after first attacker.

Removing home from fighters did work, they stay inside nicely.
