[TC 3.2] Goner Plot troubles

First I had to put up with some stupid bug where my Argon (and to a lesser extent, Boron) reputation dropped to near-zero every time I entered Elysium of Light and now after "fixing" (read: using the Cheat Script to hack it back up every time I have to go to EoL) that I find that my game crashes whenever that Goner guy ejects from that pirate station in Gaian Star. I've fought my way through that miserable Brigantine about twice now and I sure as hell am not gonna do it again.

What is/are the text bit(s) of the relevant error report(s) from Events Viewer? One will do if they all say the same thing.

Not the likely cause I suspect, but you can install Catalyst 12.1 graphics driver suite from AMD's update site and hopefully find a newer Cirrus Logic sound driver for your Mac. I know I didn't mention drivers last time you made a Tech Sp thread but then that was about rep drop which is nothing to do with drivers whereas crashes can be caused by them.

A search of similar threads about crashes at that precise point found that one fixed it by reinstalling his game, and another fixed it by doing a couple of Steam verify gamefiles cache on X3TC and X3AP and restarting the Steam Client and game after each check until he eventually had 2 files repaired.

As an Apple certified tech, I would strongly recommend not downloading and installing any drivers not obtained directly from Apple updates. Apple supplied drivers for Windows running under Bootcamp are guaranteed to work with the firmware of that computer. Direct downloads from the chipset manufacturer are not, and can often cause problems otherwise hard to diagnose.

There should be an Apple Update option in the Windows start menu, assuming Bootcamp Tools was installed. If running that doesn't find any newer drivers, then the current ones are the best available for that iMac.

Thanks for that Nanook. I assume that may not apply to the AMD Catalyst driver suite though as that is for the discrete AMD hardware and not a Mac chipset and firmware. I didn't know that about the onboard sound driver; I thought that the driver would be running under Windows and so the latest would be the optimised solution. Will file away for future reference.
