[X3:TC & X:AP] Thrustmaster HOTAS X joystick for V Day??? Hints & Tips??

The Wife bought me a new joystick (without consult) for V Day.
I have been using a Logitech Freedom 2.4 for several years,
and it has worked flawlessly in X2, X3:R, X3:TC & X3:AP.

TC is my Main Game (with AP after 2.0), and I am wondering what to expect with this new device.

I would Love to hear from Owners' of the HOTAS X system, about your experiences (good & bad) with this system.

I understand I may not be able to use the Throttle Stick, from what I have read of old threads.

Could some of you enlighten me about the current state of joystick compatibility.

Put 'HOTAS X' into the exact wording entry of this and you should see some useful threads.

Will leave here for now in case you can be advised a throttle/slider fix for X3 unless it gets too off-topic.

I've have one of theses and run perfect with x-games.

To solve the throttle bug make the following workaround:

1 . In the game launch screen select "input device"
2.- Unselect the "use throttle" option and click OK

For much contradictory that is sounds this solve the issue and you can now use the throttle in the game.

Runs perfectly with TC, and will try AP later (not primary game right now)
Throttle Stick works also!!!

This thing is huge, but Sweet....
I will do some creative button programming and minimize my keyboard use...
(not much room for it anyway)...

p.s. Works Great in AP, with the "Use Throttle" unchecked, as with TC...
A lot of pre-programmed buttons that work Great!!!

Does the especially large deadzone this stick has cause you any trouble? Even with the ingame deadzone setting at zero its still big! Makes precise movement in a dogfight difficult I find.

I cannot say that i have noticed any deadzone on the JS. In-game I have the deadzone set to 15% and sensitivity set to 20%...
If I remember, this JS was too sensitive, and i had to back it off, but it is new...
If your deadzone is "wildly large" maybe there is a problem that Tech Support might help with.

I have had a few in my time, and this is one of the best...

Bah..

I have the deadzone setting at 0% and I still have to move the stick a millimetre or so on the x & y axis to get any response in game. I personally then find it difficult to smoothly track an enemy fighter (M5 for example) and keep landing accurate shots.

It's so much easier to aim with the mouse of course but I've got this big fancy joystick that needs to be used!
