Fall / Winter 2012 would be okay with me because that is when I plan to buy a new PC.  Not only that, but my PC gaming time drops precipitously during the nice days of summer, so it would be a waste for the game to come out then as far as I am concerned - not that I would complain too loudly, though! 
X Rebirth has all the makings of being my ideal "second life" space game, so Egosoft can take all the time they need to get it right. I just couldn't tolerate a SotS II type of fiasco for such an important title.
Regardless of release date, I hope we get word of a pre-order opportunity some day soon. I would gladly pay early if it would help finance the project.

Well they introduced monthy screenshots from Rebirth so i think that implies release date sometimes in winter 2012. First they show us some screenshots for some months then it will be released.

Unless they only have 3 developers and a pet badger working on it AND the office catches on fire (Thanks Badger -_-) then we should have Rebirth far sooner than Winter 2012.

As with many players, I totally agree. I uselessly roam the forums since the gamesCome 2011 rererereading information scraps I already know by heart. And I dream about it too XD.

It would be a pleasure to do so. I would only ask ONE thing in return... one thing is not a lot.... A release date. Even a false one. A worst case scenario release date. I have read hundreds of speculation posts about it.
But I don't want speculation, I want Egosoft to tell us what they think.
If they say " Sorry dude, not before Q2 2013" That is fine by me (as long as they don't put it off once more), but at least I'll know.

Ignorance may very well be bliss, but in your scenario, you are not ignorant. You know that there is a new X game in development, and you know that you don't know when it will be released.
Imagine if you did not even know they were working on the game. That is what is meant by "ignorance is bliss".

Been wondering when it will come out but was too lazy to google it. Now ES can take their time with rebirth.

Aye, Diablo 3 for me too. X Rebirth is the years biggest release for me, closely followed by Dark Souls PC and GTA V.
I guess the Rebirth 4th May (tomorrow) release date is off the cards then?

i do agree that they need to make that game right... but EGO is not a big company, and finances are going to be tight, so i hope they dont take too long and end up over drawn to a stage of disrepair... i still want a Rebirth 2 after this one

Unfortunately a recent "From Software" interview reveals that Dark Souls PC will be a console port requiring use of the GFWL client and suggesting gameplay via a gamepad. Limited keyboard funcionality, and No graphical difference between PC and console versions either.
GFWL and playing with a gamepad? No thanks.
