Old Steam Poll posts split and 'archived'

1 is covered by "For activation and updates", 2 by "I would never use Steam if it was the last surviving games platform". The only difference really is you added love and hate.Skeeter wrote:Wont vote because this poll needs these 3 options,
1. love steam so dont mind at all
2. hate steam wont use it at all
3. dont really care one way or the other.
I would remake the poll with them or add them to the existing poll.
There is a lack of a "don't care" option, but I think the OP only wants opinions of those who actually do care one way or another.

Sorry forgot that one.what for those who simply can't, for whatever reason?
Is there a way to edit in that option?

Thanks for this, I was thinking of doing the same thing.
I'd have only had 1 option though, since all I'm really interested in is how many people are like me and wont have steam on their computer for any reason.
If Egosoft actually read this, my position is this :
I'm a disc out of a box player.
I dont mind an activation over the net to verify copy protection, but I wont log in anywhere with a username and password to do it, unless its this very forum.
I wont have a program on my computer that requires internet access while the game is playing. The internet here is so bad at times that any internet active program can at any time turn a game into a slideshow, while it hunts for a missing connection. I wont have it. If need be while playing a game, I strip the computer down to only the essentials, and the internet is the first to be removed.
If a stand alone game requires the internet to be played, then it is not a stand alone game. I play stand alone games !

But for "activation and updates" is too limiting as steam is alot more than just activation and updates. So needs to be reworded as dont mind steam in its fullest form not just 2 of its functions.esd wrote:1 is covered by "For activation and updates", 2 by "I would never use Steam if it was the last surviving games platform". The poll shouldn't be personalised it should be generalised so a "dont care" option is needed otherwise its too biased based on personal opinion of the OP.
Good poll- And surprising results to date... - I hope there are sufficient voters to make the results meaningful -and LOUD.
“Man, my poor head is battered,” Ed said.
“That explains its unusual shape,” Styanar said, grinning openly now. “Although it does little to illuminate just why your jowls are so flaccid or why you have quite so many chins.”
“I…” Had she just called him fat? “I am just a different species, that’s all.”
“Well nature sure does have a sense of humour then,” Styanar said. “Shall we go inside? It’d not be a good idea for me to be spotted by others.”

This what I hope to see.Gavrushka wrote:Good poll- And surprising results to date... - I hope there are sufficient voters to make the results meaningful -and LOUD.
Obviously those who don't care can choose 1,2 or 4.
Those who will always use steam can do the same.
Those who do not like Steam and won't use it can go for 3.
The end result will be either for or against Steam.
So the total votes for 1,2 and 4,compared to 3 will show not just for or against but show what some may use Steam for.
Obviously if you like everything about Steam, you won't vote 3.

It will be interesting to see what percentage option 3 does actually draw.
Personally, I think anything above 25% would be a serious worry to the publishers and egosoft themselves.
Given the small overall space genre userbase, probably even 10% of current players refusing to get the game because of steam has got to hurt the corporate hip pocket.

The options were important in my opinion, Delray. - There are various ways to use 'Steam'. - A blanket answer would not be representative, and would not give as meaningful a result.
I can see the results are split evenly between some use of Steam and none (with very few votes cast at present).

atm 56% are against Steam.delray wrote:So you admit you split votes "for" Steam to manipulate the results?
47% in favour.
These are the main results I am looking at.
But I can see qualifying reason to use Steam.
Personally I am not 100% against Steam.
I just have issues with the unreliable "offline" mode.
"For activation and updates" - Well, I'll buy it strait from steam. Last boxed PC game I bought was back in 2009.
Steam is vastly better than that crap Ubi-Soft calls DRM. You don't know true pain until you dealt with that hunk of garbage.

Do not expect ES to take note of the poll results as i think i heard someone say they wouldn't. Besides for a proper poll it needs a thousand or two votes to be considered a proper poll. If only 100 users post that does not represent any majority in the slightest. 1000 doesn't really but is better than 100 or 50 for example.
I'm not going to vote, for the same reason as other people in this thread.
That said, the poll is redundant anyway because if its on Steam, you MUST activate and update though steam, so options 1 and 4 are invalid.
You should of just gone with:
Will you get rebirth if it requires steam.
1: Yes, steam doesn't bother me
2: Yes, despite my technical issues with steam (poor connectivity, etc)
3: Yes, despite personal reasons for not liking steam
4: No, for technical reasons (steam doesn't connect most times for me, etc)
5: No, for personal reasons (don't like the platform, etc)
6: No, not getting the game, don't know why I'm on this forum in the first place.

There is a pretty big error margin on 50 or 100, you are right - And the poll I doubt would influence Egosoft regardless- It seems this one is set in stone.Skeeter wrote:Do not expect ES to take note of the poll results as i think i heard someone say they wouldn't. I am surprised, however, at how many people appear to feel so strongly against Steam.
