There's a very interesting article on PC game piracy and DLC as well.
_________________ X-Rebirth and Steam -the facts.
1. The game still comes in a box if you want and there is no huge file to download.
2. You only need to connect to the internet once to activate the game, which takes seconds.
3. You DO NOT have to be connected to the internet to play the game.
4. Patches via Steam are still the same size they would be if they were not downloaded via Steam |

Heh. From http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-09-30-how-bad-is-pc-piracy-really-article:
| Quote: |
| "It's impossible to know how bad piracy is," agrees Michael Pachter, Wedbush Morgan analyst, "but it's pretty bad. Ubisoft told me that their PC game sales are down 90 per cent without a corresponding lift in console sales. Some of the decline is truly due to people migrating to consoles, but my guess is that 40 to 50 per cent of PC games played are not purchased." |
Yeah, there are quite a lot of ubisoft games I would've purchased if they hadn't used DRM. Since they are, however, welp, guess they didn't want my money anyways, because I'm certainly not buying them on the console just to justify them consolizing their games even harder.
I much prefer to go for indie games instead.

hmmm yeah like assassin creed series and recently driver san fransisco. every time i launch it i have to log in to an ubisoft account, its the sort of game i dont mind playing on console if you have to go through drm checks and syncs.

Given the history of these discussions, in which people invariably end up getting themsleves into trouble by justifying illegal activities, this ends here I'm afraid.
