Interesting with the ore processing. Is that kind of animation viable on all stations or a select few depending on which module is attached?
Shame that's the only bit of info in the newsletter regarding the new game.
Every pic i see shows low res blotchy effects, i hope that is fixed to higher res effects when game is out, you wouldnt want a nice game brought down cos of the effects i hope. Tho then again that was what happened with x3 and tc. Explosions and weapons fire always looked low res and blotchy. Praying the new game has much nicer res for em this time.
Tho the flame effect in this pic might be ok depends how the animation is.

"XRebirth to be released Q4 2011?"
That is like saying "tomorrow"!
I need to know if my laptop will play xrebirth (I hope it will).
I have X3 Gold and with high gpu settings it works and looks fantastic.
Can anyone direct me to rebirth specs please?
Thanks!
-.-

Still reckon it will be delayed till next year.
No specs yet released.

Edit - About the modules. Is it me or with the new targeting system you might be able to sabotage production by destroying these modules. Just occurred to me.
Personally im just wanting a flashy space combat game as i wont be touching the trading in it but for those that do trade i guess its a nice feature. Reminds me of the internals of the stations of X-btf.

There you go all you babies!
Okay, a little harsh, but just let Egosoft do what Egosoft does. Thanks Egosoft for making wickedly awesome games.

Oh please please please be awesome!
EDIT: Oh and if possible, can you make it run well on an over clocked Q6600. The minister of finance and warfare (wife) has poo-pooed my plans to spend $2000AU on a new PC, so I now have about $500AU to get this one to do something worth while. It may be a tough task, and may not get me high gameplay settings, but at least I'll still get laid!

Now that's some good picture, love this much more than the SPP shot. It seems we're moving to megafactories from a bunch of small factories heh?

Edit - EarlHarewood: Check out SPAZ it is a cool indie game, very deep and complex space game made by 2 people over a few years on their own time and money. Pretty cool if u ask me.
Then thier is the very nice looking Black Prophecy which can only really get better which i was in the beta and thought it was cool but buggy but in a year i reckon be worth investing time in, depends how dedicated they are to adding new content and stuff. Then their is star trek online, pretty nice space game and probs a few more out there coming soon. So egosoft does have competition in the sci fi space type games out there. |
SPAZ is a 2d game, so imho that doesn't count, plenty of those around and space is a uniquely 3D environment, could replace all the models and backgrounds with any terrestrial setting and the game would still work.
Star trek online is 1) an MMO which is just the digital age equivalent of crack and should be avoided at all costs by someone like me lol 2) from what i hear it really sucks but then again i haven't played it so i'm in no position to question it's quality realistically.
Black prophecy - MMO again.
Basically nobody comes close to egosoft in single player space sim games, this genre has been dead in the water for a while with only egosoft "flogging a dead horse" so to speak.
In my view, there was X2 then freelancer then X3 and that's pretty much all we've had in the last... 10 years? how many countless beat 'em ups or first person shooters have we had in that time?
Gosh with SyFy pulling Stargate off the air, endless star trek re-runs, i'm starting to think we true sci-fi nuts are a dying species out here!!
Edit: I may have to end my mmo drought and play black prophecy damn that looks good o.O; (still buying rebirth plz don't nuke my post ^^)
Further Edit: Black Prophecy is free to play, those MMO's are the worst of the bunch where it's basically whoever pays wins, completely GAY .

That looks great I love the idea of being able to see if things are happening. And using it as a method to target the competition
