Stupid Asteroid question
What would happen if you build an Ore mine on a silicon asteroid and vice versa?
Would the asteroid produce silicon or ore? Would it even produce at all?

The mine would still produce albeit very, very slowly.

It behaves like a 0 yield mine. It still produces, but yes, very slowly...
This can actually be useful though. If you only need a little bit more Silicon to keep that last Crystal Fab running in order to keep a closed loop running in a system, then sacrifice a weak Ore 'roid or 2 in order to do so.

It's better to attach a CAG to closed loops, even if the numbers looks OK (on paper).Painman wrote:This can actually be useful though. +1 to Rive's advice.
Cycle time of Ore Mine on yield 0 is 10:01.
24 ECells convert to one Wafer. 6 ECells convert to one Ore.
Station of scale L multiplies numbers by 5.
Without scale (and other multipliers), products-per-cycle of every Mine is 1.
It is a FAQ to build a Mine to wrong Asteroid by accident. It is almost always a Silicon Mine.
Cycle time of Silicon Mine on yield 0 is 40:01.Infekted wrote:What was it again. It produces 5 every 40 minutes?
