I’ve been playing X3 for awhile, and I’ve noticed there are “essential” scripts that most people use when they play. One of them is: NPC Bail addon. The script makes the overall experience rewarding, however, at the same time it leaves you with handful of abandoned ships floating everywhere. I’ve seen some people talk about what is the optimal bailing rate. I reckon that if you play a modded game, it might’ve caught your attention at some point There are temporary solutions such as getting rid of the ship like in every 10 minutes after they bail, but, that breaks the immersion in my point of view. And, that’s no fun. One of the wonders is to stumble upon a bailed M7 when you first visit a sector.

I think this would all be solved if we add a new faction. So, I want to propose an idea, and also want to see your valuable feedback if this is a viable script that experienced scripter can make.

Teladi Aggresive Salvager Faction, featuring:
* They have their own sector. They have their own shipyard. Their race is set to neutral to all race except for Khaack and Xenon.

* The faction members usually drive a TM class transporter where they would dock the derelict ship. They will collect derelict ship of all classes. And, head back to their home sector.

* Their shipyard has all classes of X3 ships available in their ware but at 0 volume, initially. The salvagers will dock and if the salvaged ship is M6 or above, it will dock itself to the shipyard. Upon docking safely to their shipyard, the salvaged damaged ship will be available for purchase. That is, the volume of the target ship increases from 0 to 1, which would make it available for both players and AI.

* Their ships are always 50% more expensive than the normal shipyard price. However, the reputation is not required to purchase from them. So, let say you want to buy an ATF M7, but you don’t have enough reputation nor you are planning to increase your rep with the terrans, you are in luck. Of course, that is, if they happened to carry one to their shipyard.

* Note that even at the increased price, by purchasing this way, you will at least have some weapons and shields and fully repaired hull. So you are not left with a damaged good after boarding successfully or claiming one adrift. This would greatly benefits players who play as a pirate.

* The faction produce ships if they lose their salvagers. Also, they can use the salvaged ships (after repaired and reloaded), it can serve as sector patrol and also salvager escort. They should also have realistic economy so some part of script from Phanon corp would also help creating a more believable faction..

Basically, you are now competed with other salvagers. However, overall it benefits both player and the AI. And what a treat it would be if you come across that horrible Xenon Q available in their shipyard!

Some of you loyalist might say, this isn’t right. It doesn’t fit the X-universe. I also propose this. Lore wise, I would like to suggest some extreme right-wing Teladi faction have established their own shipyard to practice their greedy trade practice. So the station will be somewhere in or near Teladi sector(s).

I hope I can see this. Any ideas from other people? Hopefully, I would like to see modders who might’ve been inspired by the idea.

The AI wouldn't benefit from your suggestion, as NPCs don't buy ships. They just "get" them. If you look for competiting salvagers have a look at the 'Salvage Commands and NPCs' script that is also linked in the NPC bailing addon thread.

Well, my actual problem with your suggestion is that you basically want to remove all requirements for getting ships, except for money. However, money is really easy to get in X3TC and AP.
Personally, I think there should be certain ships that should never be for sale anywhere else than at the shipyard of the faction, which builds that ship, and the Xenon Q in your example definitely belongs to that group.

Imho one consequence of playing as a pirate is that you can't buy most things (like ships, equipments, stations), but that you have to get them on different ways (boarding, capping, stealing). I think removing that limitation would defeat the whole idea of playing as a pirate.

Yes, what I'm saying is though is that its creating an illusion of realism. Of course, NPC wont buy it, but I believe if the script somehow checks the AI's credit balance, they can take out the money and use it to "get" the ship. I think it's similar to phanon corporation.

That is very true, but just because creating a shipyard stated above, doesn't gurentee the player anything. It should be completely random and in fact if the bail add on disables big/huge ship bailing, people won't see them. Also, every day or two, the shipyard can completely remove its wares back to 0, and the equivalent amount of credit will be given to the faction, having them "purchasae" the ship.

The idea is to remove the scence of space junkyard. And provide the player the feeling that the universe is active. Realistically, if a decent ship is floating in space, wouldn't it make sense that someone should want to claim it, other than the player alone?

Anyway, just food for thoughts. I love being in X3 Universe, and ultimately I just want to get the feeling that where I am is a real place and others(AI) have their own way of doing things.
