Publisher Deep Silver and developer Egosoft today announced the latest game set in the X Universe, set to transport the multi-award-winning series to another dimension with radically new game design and top notch graphics.

The space simulation X Rebirth heralds more than just an additional chapter within the X series, it is a fresh beginning bringing with it a number of gameplay innovations without compromising its successful origins.

Watch the X Rebirth Reveal Trailer here

In the distant future, the X universe faces a period of profound and irrevocable change. While the universe stumbles towards an uncertain future, countless adventures await as new enemies rise in search of power.

Enter a young adventurer and his unlikely female ally travelling in an old, battered ship with a glorious past - two people alone against the galaxy, playing a key part in the events to come.

The fate of the universe rests in the hands of the player...

X Rebirth represents a spectacular new beginning for the X series, offering loyal fans and newcomers alike a vast, vivid and extremely detailed universe to explore throughout the game.

Varied gameplay elements such as action-packed space combat, detailed trading mechanics and high-speed space exploration with fast travel allow players to experience a truly unique space saga that will keep them hooked for dozens of hours.

X Rebirth for PC is expected to be released in the fourth quarter of 2011.

Looks nice. Who kept on saying TNBT wasn't to involve the X Universe?...
Is it an RPG?
And will it be tested thoroughly before launch?

wow, early watch from me. Nice vid, can't wait to find game play details but hairs on the back of my neck stood when I watched it Very Happy

My first question would be...

Is this a sandbox RPG? Dozens of hours hints that it isn't.

That's depending on the publisher, not Egosoft¹.

Edit after watching the trailer: *sigh* There goes my hope of finally getting rid of Betty...

_____
¹: Unless Egosoft opts for the "no food for you until you fixed all bugs!"-option. Which is... unlikely.

Looks very pretty. I love that you've fitted it into the X-Universe but have a chance to sweep away the baggage build up over several great games and do something new.

pwease pwease concentrate on improved and varied AI in battle and trade xxxx

Pretty lights is great but if its a dummy ai crashing into things then it kinds spoils the fun

also no idea if its a RPG heavy or as is it game/story design? and no clues for MMO which is fine with me

Looks incredible! And that was all actual gameplay!

I will definately need to upgrade a little, any sort of idea on what sort of specs the game will require?
