We are pleased to announce to the EGOSOFT community that today sees the release of version 3.1 of X3: Terran Conflict for the Mac OS X operating system. Today's release brings the Mac version of the game bang up to date with its Windows counterpart and therefore includes the Balance of Power story line that was included in the 3.0 update for Windows. We hope that Mac users will enjoy what this update has to offer.
The Mac version of X3: Terran Conflict is produced by EGOSOFT's Mac OS programming partner, Virtual Programming Ltd.

Lost all my saved games
Installed the update and found that when I started the game non of my saved games were available and I cant find where x3 saves the current game files. Was this a planed part of the upgrade?

You should ask that linux game publishing. As with the MAC version, EGOSOFT never did the the prevous linux ports itself.

I first saw the Mac 3.1(.1) update just over a week ago, and got off to a bad start: several sound crashes, launch failures when switching from windowed to fullscreen, which incidentally reset my graphics options to max and left me wondering how performance could seem both better and worse, and an odd little problem that prevented me from being able to enter the password correctly in the ANH plot.
So I filed a report last Sunday night, and was pleasantly surprised to find a response waiting for me first thing Monday. Saw three iterations of the patch over the next few days, verified fixes for all my original problems and a few more found along the way, as well as a very impressive performance fix (Mac-specific) that was found mostly by accident. The 3.1.2 update was officially released by Friday evening, just five days from my original report.
The game is now simply awesome. A few times I've gone out flying just to look at stuff, or try a different ship, because it feels like a new experience. Certainly Egosoft deserves the bulk of the credit, for the new features and dramatic performance enhancements since 2.1, but I also really want to thank Krystian at VPL for doing such a great job, and being a pleasure to work with.
If you happened to get off to a rocky start as I did, try to set that aside and take a fresh look. As hard as it is to say this, I keep thinking it really was worth the wait.
A few tips:
– Your save folder gets moved (actually copied, I think) from <user>/Documents/Egosoft/... to <user>/Library/Application Support/X3 - TerranConflict/...
– It's worth reviewing your graphic settings. I wasn't able to use Glow before, but it works well now. It seems clear that anisotropic filtering still offers no visual benefit but does hurt performance, so make sure that's off.
– Keep your eyes open for some hidden gems, like being able to use Collect Ware/Astronaut in an M6, and the ability to set fuel and missile resupply amounts much higher than before.
Again, a big thanks to Egosoft and VPL, but especially to the individuals who get the real work done, and care about doing it well.

This sounds awesome! I'd love to download the patch... wish I could find it. Maybe a link would be helpful next time?
If you go to your own download site I get a very unhelpful Windoz download and if I go to VP's site I get a broken link to a 2.x update.

I would suggest contacting VP about the link issue since it was them who did the porting and patches for the Mac OS.
Not yet, it'll probably 3-4 months at least before the pre-order option is available. But if memory serves the Mac port of previous X games were around a year after the PC release. So it'll be a long wait.P.S. Can I preorder X3 Rebirth? I'm buying a new Mac just so I can play that game. I love your games so damn much...

Thanks guys. I just figured that out. The last time I ran the game I was disconnected from the Interwebz so saw no update message but I just ran it and got the update to 3.13 message. Duh. Still would be nice to mention that in the news, "Just start the game and it will download the update! (You must be connected to the Internet)."
It's so funny because I spent the last hour looking for the update and didn't even think to start the game because I wanted the update before playing...

Lost save files
Hi,
After the upgrade 3.1 I lost all my save files!((
I tried to move from folder "Documents" to "Library/Application support" but the result was not.
Is solution to this problem?

I would estimate the update to be around half the size, maybe a bit less, than the full original download.
As for save files, I haven't heard of others losing files. Mine were copied to the new location automatically by the update process, leaving the originals untouched (I also had backups, but didn't need them). Note that the save folder is nested a few levels deeper, so be sure you look in the right place if you try to do anything manually.

Mac Game Save Locations
Can anybody out there please aid a Mac user running X3TC? I am trying to copy my game save from one machine to another, but I can't find where the save games are being filed on my mac. I've tried everything but they simply don't seem to be anywhere...
