I was wondering how many of you like to use ramming as a battle tactic, usually if I'm up against something I know I can destroy by ramming when its shields are low without causing hull damage to myself, ill go for it.

I'll do it if I'm in something like an M6 and I'm getting frustrated trying to shoot M4/5s that are buzzing around me.

The topic name reminds me of this awesome road trip game.

You look at cars and shout their names, only you replace the manufacturer's name with something else. Now, it's somewhat indecent, hence the spoilers. Don't read if you are extremely sensitive to vulgarity:

"Anal" - this is not a swear word as it's a medical term, but if someone wants to moderate this post out I'll understand, sorry in advance.

So for example instead of Ford Explorer, you replace "Ford" with the word above.

Especially american car names work well.

Dodge Ram
Dodge Viper
Jeep Wrangler

...and so on. In general my sense of humour is rather dry and complex, but sometimes it's the simple jokes that make the tedium of travelling so much better.

Happy road trips!

I use ramming when carrying out detroy ship/s missions for Yaki or Pirates.
In a Springblossom it is especially effective as you can destroy 4 ships in rapid succession without dropping shields all the way.
This has the added benefit of not hitting your rep maasively. You will take a hit but it will usually on be a couple of percentage points

Are we counting suicide rams here? Those happen rather often.

Before I discovered the wonders of FAAs and SSCs I used to ram M5-M3s all the time, now they usually die before I finish turning around from killing the first.

I end up ramming quite often, not necessarily intentionally though, Shrikes don't lend themselves to delicate manoeuvres Laughing

I used the trick to kill Kha'ak Corvettes in a PX. ISR's to drain the shields, then slam into them at full throttle. Naturally it only works if you're faster, and if you have enough shields left to survive. Not a twice in a row tactic.

In my Thresher I ram smaller ships all the time...they just fly into my wings and die.

After smoking an M1/2 and turning on a second one, I usually find myself ramming the hull, instead of turning around for another pass.

M6 and smaller is just not worth the time or energy to fire guns at from a Thresher...so they get rammed fairly often.

SO, yeah..I like to throw my weight around when I can. I seldom do it in anything but an M7 though.

(I DID come out of a gate up the back of a Q...in my Ray. That was heavenly. The flak took care of the fighter support as it came through the gate.)

Oh and PS:

Ramming is by far the best way (that I know of) to kill Kha'ak clusters before they disperse and become annoying. Of course, they have to be targeting someone else and you have to make sure your turrets don't shoot at them, but otherwise it's amazing...

Spoiler
Particularly on the OFF escort missions where there are tons of clusters.

The only ships I ram are the Khaak Corvettes. For some strange reason, they always fly right in front of me.
