196.4... reloaded once... I would have taken the untuned 1 I was offered first time... if it didn't have a significantly reduced cargo-bay. (1337units!!!!)

I also got 4 marines 2 of which were 4 or more stars in every skill. The first time I got untrained marines with 0 fight stars... does anyone know what all the variables that can change when the hyperion is rewarded are? I have heard of the Adv. Perseus being overtuned for some people but I know mine isn't.

IIRC I had either that or sentry lasers (or maybe the other one) on my first one too... Not on the one I kept though. I wasn't fully sure that I wasn't making it up... til you posted that. It's cool to have anti-marine upgrades... but they're completely useless in vanilla aren't they?

216.4m/s, third try. Came with Advanced Firewall Software and a Split marine with 5 stars in Fighting.

I also bought a second hand Hydra for 12+mil that came with Internal Defense Lasers and a Boron marine with 5 stars in Fighting as well. :)

@jimlpearce, it had 1337 cargobay? Shoulda kept it...(1337=leet  )

Yeah, I want to do the Poisoned Paranid, but keep getting killed due to my ineptitude in controlling drones. And of course, the missile spam gets me nine times out of ten... Then there's the fact that I often go the wrong way, deeper into hostile space. I'll keep trying- a legitimate overtuned Hyperion will be a nice thing to have... It's nice to see that over 200m/s is quite a common thing too, so thank you to the OP for this thread.
Allergic to work.

216.4 m/s and one good marine was the best I could do for an hour's reloading, and I wanted to keep going but it was 2am and I saved over the slot where I'd parked my "right before I pay" file.

Yeah...Do the Poisioned Paranid start and save right before reclaiming your Hyperion Vanguard. Keep reloading till you get the desired results.

Mine goes 169m/s, but 250 Typhoons says I don't need to be going very fast. I just launch missiles till everything red stops twitching. :P

I was awfully tempted to restart from scratch to get an over tuned hyperion, but I think the thought of starting from scratch really hurts more than the "fun" of scratching a living off salvage and discarded ships. When I'm ready to be a pirate I'll grab start the poisoned paranid start and hope I don't pull my hair out.

Well if you also want to see what STEAM's attainment is about, then a restart is a must.

I use a modified game for the complex cleaner, so I don't think I can get steam achievements. Any starts I do are just for the pure fun of it, which is how I like my games.

Same here. I use Tubeless complex script and this makes me a cheater. Kinda makes no sense if one does this just to be able to enter a sector and not have to watch a slideshow. I uploaded my stats, but there's this *modified* tag. Imagine Egosoft doing a good job with the engine optimisation...No?
I can't either.

Well, the post is in German but you can read the numbers: The poster got a Hyperion Vanguard @ 242 m/s after three realtime days of reloading  :)

Three posts later in the same thread another report of a 238 m/s-beast at second (!) reload.

Personally I've never tried this game-start.

I didn't do any relaods and got a Hyperion Vanguard at 237m/s and an Advanced Perseus that goes 225m/s.

No good marines or anything like that, but I was happy.

The maximum speed is 250.304 which is 27 engine tunings. The maximum rudder tunings it can have is 26. I "cheated" and edited the game memory to get those speeds without a modified tag. ~3 hours :)

I can't see loading for days to get one with a good speed...
