Yay, it is getting clearer!
I've started a new game with IE 1.1. If i now install IEX, do I have access to every feature, or do I have to restart again?
Edit: Okay, I have to restart again
Is it intended that some sectors looking completely different between IE and IEX? For example Red HQ: IE: smooth "milky" nebula, bright. IEX: Green, dark Nebula that looks like sandpaper oO
I dont want to offend you, I'm just wondering about some extreme changes.
My main problem is the fact, that my Albion Prelude looks nowhere like the screens in the IEX OP.

There are some changes between IE & IEX but I'm not sure what you mean by "Red HQ"? Which sector is this?
Any chance of a few screenshots of "Red HQ" and Albion Prelude? It sounds as if the mod. may not be installed correctly but I might be wrong.
The "new" Albion Prelude should look like this...

"red hq" is "the hole" - the german translation is quite odd sometimes.

I burned everything down, installed everything fresh, IE as 03.cat and 03.dat, IEX as 04.cat and 04.dat to the addon folder + TC main folder, fresh start and now Red HQ looks like it should.
The IE version was better though...

The "IE" nebula form above for "The Hole" was in a previous version of IEX but due to the nature of the neighbouring backgrounds, the new green foggy one seemed to fit better highlighting a shared piece of Argon/Boron border space (ie. a transition between two distinct background types). Don't worry tho' there are two of the bright green ones you like just next door in Rolk's Fate & Atreus' Clouds. For IEX I wanted a greater range and continuity of backgrounds and so often there won't be too many of the same type together... even the real pretty ones.
Why didn't EGOSOFT name"The Hole" "Die Hohle" (?) in German or have it named "Red HQ" in English... why the difference? Answers on a postcard please.

"The Hole" means "Das Loch (Bohrloch, Bohrung)" in german
Ah and thank you for your suggestions about the bright nebula, I really like the style!!
And thanks for your help

Will I really need to start a new game? I loaded an existing one - and it worked. No other mods installed btw.

You'll see much of what IE has within an existing game, but some of the planet/suns/nebula may be out of place... so a new gamestart is best. IE will give you some enhancement for AP as well as for TC but for AP you'll really need IEX (see below). IEX is a supplementary set of cat/dats that layers on top of IE for both TC/AP, but if you're happy with what you already have, great!

OK thx, I installed both and will restart a game! Can I put IEX and IE into a mod folder, then choose IEX at TC startup in the mod screen? Because, as I understand, IEX works on top of IE, so will this way work as well?
Simply because I wish I could still use vanilla TC for an older savegame.

You can use just IE by itself, but IEX must always be used with IE as the lower numbered cat/dat & IEX higher. I'm not sure how you use them within the mod folder tho'... If you drop the cat/dat files within your main TC directory your vanilla TC savegame should still fire up tho' (but it'll not have all the changes correctly displayed).
