If this is the wrong place to post this then please by all means move the thread. =)

I would like to have a special TP that is the same length as the Iguana Vanguard / Express Hauler (i.e. four cargo "units" long) except that one of the modules is replaced by a hangar from a TM-class ship. I'm not sure what components are available to work with and if they can be split up, but generally it appears that one "passenger" unit is equal to two "freight" units (tanks/crates) which are in turn equal to two "hangar" units. The one thing I'm not sure of is if the TM Hangars (a set of four) are a unit like the passenger unit or are four individual units. Anyway...

I guess the model would be something like - passenger unit, 2x hangars, crate unit (to make the same length as a long superfreighter). I don't suppose there's a half-length passenger unit somewhere? I think that would look nicer as the tank module could be left in...

Even more difficult - I would like to mount two additional turrets to the ship (top/bottom). If this is too involved I can live without it...

How would I go about making a ship model like this? All help deeply appreciated! =)

The easiest way to do this is to copy a TM and give it more cargo space.

Gmax or 3dmax...
you need to use a 3d modeller application

cut those ships whose parts you want out of their respective original ships, put em together, add turret dummies, add docking bays, export and add the ship to your tship file...

this tutorial might get you started but calculate a few days in:

Okay thanks! If Gmax is the way to go then I guess I'll have to start learning up. =)

Edit - I put the Boa right next to the Iguana Vanguard and determined that contrary to my original post, the "hangar" bay is equal to one unit of crates or tanks. However, it also looks like it's a single unit (quad length) so in order to get a hangar thats a single bay I'll have to cut it up in a 3d program... oh well, should be fun anyway. =)
