What's the time compression of SETA?

By default, 600% or six times faster. You can configure this somewhere in game settings, up to 1000% or ten times faster.

Faster acceleration can cause performance and AI issues, depending which game you're playing and how fast your processor is.

Using Seta at 10x means you have 6 minutes before your fight and trade rep starts to drop.

I run vista 64 bit with 16gb of ram on a dual processor server machine. Not an issue with performance rep however is a whole nother thing though.

Also runs fine at 1000% on my OC'd P4HT @ 4GHz with only 2GB of RAM. TC2.1 seems to run much smoother than the initial release - I'm looking forward to additional performance gains from TC2.5.

you can set it to 2 times time if you want.
it can be any integer from 2-10 times time. best to set it depending on how well the ai can fly you ships for you. slower it is the better the ships are flown but the longer it takes you to cross a sector.

i have vista 64bit with 4 gb of ram 2.5 quad core and 9800 512 mb at 1900x1200 and I usally get around 5-20 fps, I use 1000% seta, do you think that will be a problem with my set up, with playing X3TC? right now I go solo with no automated stuff yet and I usally just use seta to cross a sector faster or get from point a to b faster. As with the loss of rep, does each speed up have a bigger ratio increase or is the increase the same ratio, such as 500% at 10 minutes the same decrease of rep of 1000% at 5 minutes?

Reputation starts to drop at after one hour of you not interacting with the game. With seta on that hour happens faster, but it depends on what you have it set to.

Just using it to cross sectors isn't going to cause problems, that's what its for, although you'd best not do it if you have other ships in the same sector, because it reduces the effectiveness of the AI, and crashes will happen.

I had hoped to use seta for a few hours just to get a starting cash horde, but with XTM there's simply way too much out there shooting everybody down. I have a khaak fleet in rolks drift and a pirate fleet in teladi gain just to give two common causes for UT loss. I may be forced to start some small stations just to get a steady income going.

the XTM universe is a very combat-oriented environment. You're going to need some tough trading ships and lots of sector patrols to make a steady income, and even then all of you're assets are not guaranteed to survive.

Extended discussion of XTM gameplay should be directed to this thread, or the X-Universe Forums.
Admitting you have a problem is the first step in figuring out how to make it worse.

If you have combat patrols and traders going to the various races...why would you lose rep with seta on after a while if you have both of those going thta should be gaining or maintain rep?

And yes, I know of both spots. Nobody answer the thread on this site often and I've been waiting for a long time for an admin to activate my account over on XU to even post. I'm not going to dwell on it here though.

You don't get combat rep from your ships - only player ship, so combat patrols will not help. But you're right - UTs and stations, etc will help prevent/minimise trade rep loss.

I could have sworn I was getting some from a couple of my m5's in other sectors. Maybe only to a certain rank?

Well, I am not 100% sure, but not too far off. In X3R only playership affects combat rank. Doubt XTM changes that, but it is technically possible.

guess I may be better off trying my old trick of setting a patrol and AAE order on my own ship then overnight :)
