James was awoken by a buzzer, James opened his communicator: yes
Jeff: I’m on the way over with some coffee,
James: ok, I’ll unlock the hatch. He put the communicator down, got up and headed to the bathroom to relive him self and wash his face,
Jake opened the hatch as Jeff approached, Jeff entered the ship and stepped into the cabin area, set the coffee down on the small desk and took a seat,
James entered and grabbed his flight suit and put it on, then picked up the coffee and took a sip: I needed that thanks,
Jeff: out escorts were able to get to the west gate and scan the area I looked at the scans they were clear, I called Sam and Anna they will be ready to depart in 30 Mizuras.
James: good the sooner we get back the better, I don’t care for Paranid space.
Jeff: me either, but I’ll remind you of that when you try to put a station in it.
James just looked at him as he departed. Then buckled in to his pilot seat and started checking out his ships systems.
20 Mizuras later Jeff departed the station followed by Sam and Anna James took up the rear and followed Anna out, Jeff then turned and headed toward the west gate to Emperor Mines, as the convoy approached the gate they were scanned by the sector police, finding nothing they were allowed to continue there journey, Jeff entered the gate and 10 Sezuras later announced that it was clear, Sam entered the gate then Anna entered James follow Anna, as he entered Emperor Mines he saw that the screens were clear, the convoy continued toward the North gate going to Cloud Base Southwest, 30Km from the gate they were scanned again buy the sector police, and allowed to continue,
Jeff: with the Police so thick in this area is a wonder that the pirates operate here.
James: they must have an agreement with them, I wonder what they were looking for?
Jeff: Slaves I guess that’s the only thing that Illegal here.
Jeff entered the north gate and 10 Sezuras later called that it was clear,
When James entered CBSW he saw 4 sector police patrolling near the gate,
James called over to them: This is James Hawk from Hawks security, do you have any ideal why the Paranid Police are out in force?
Officer Winchester said: he received a report that stated that they are looking for some pirates that had taken some Paranid citizens prisoner.
James: Thank you if we run across them we will turn them in.
James followed Anna to the north gate and watched as Jeff entered it.
After 15 Sezuras Jeff had not reported in, James went around the transports and entered the gate with his escorts following, once he entered Red Light he spotted Jeff and four Pirate ships and two others that were just floating in space: Sam stay there till I call you,
James hit the thrusters and went to assist he lined up on one of the pirate novas and launched two missals, as he approached he noticed that his communications was being jammed, he stayed with the nova as it tried to evade and opened fire, the nova shields took a hard hit and dropped to 50% he continued to fire till the pirate bailed and turned to track a falcon that had launched a missal at him, he acquired his and opened fire on him with all guns while his turrets took out the missal, he brought his shields down to 20% and the pirate shot back and launched another missal at point blank it hit James shields, he saw them fall down to 70% just before the pirates shields hit 0% and he bailed, James looked for more targets but only saw Jeff, then he called Jeff,
Jeff: I thought I was a goner when they jumped me.
James: how’s your ship
Jeff: shields at 25% and rising I have some hull damage two of my guns are shot and my engine reports 30% power loss,
James: ok lets have the escorts uncloak and I’ll call for Sam and Anna, James saw the escorts uncloak : Sam, Anna come on thru its clear now,
Sam: what happened?
James we had a reception party waiting for us.
Christopher: Darrel you and Patti pick up the pilots, Nikki help me scan and cap these ships, James would you call for a carrier to come in and pick up these ships?
James; ok, round them up on me and Ill call Tracy,
Tracy: hi James, wats up
James: I got some more ships for you to haul I’ll sent the coordinates,
Tracy: Red Light got it be there in 10 Mizuras.
James: good we’ll round these ships up.
James watched as the ships turned green and headed toward him. And he counted them 4 novas 3 falcons,
James: Jeff you want to land on the Phoenix 4 and get your ship repaired?
Jeff: yes I think that is a good ideal, and we can have lunch while we are there, and I need a shower.
James: ok we’ll all land and take a break.
When the Phoenix appeared and its cap was out James had Jake land the captured ship and watched Jeff head into the carrier then he had the transports land then the escorts, he landed and went over to Jeff’s ship , it was purity shot up and had several peaces of his wings missing, he turned to Jeff why don’t you go and get cleaned up I’ll meet you in the mess hall in 30 Mizuras
Jeff: ok, he left as Tracy approached,
Tracy: looks like you been busy,
James: we have, I need your maintenances to repair Hawk 2 and check Hawk 1
Tracy: I’ll see to it where will you be,
James: in the mess hall as soon as I change.
Tracy: ok I’ll be there shortly,
James rounded up his other pilots and they headed to the quarters deck, where James had Anna, Nikki, and Patti use Mikes quarters to clean up in, and Sam, Christopher and Darrel use Sam’s quarters, he entered his took a quick shower change into a clean flight suit and headed to the mess hall, when he entered Tracy flagged him over to her table.
James walked over and took the offered seat: thank you,
Tracy looked up at him, for what?
James: every thing, you have performed exceptionally.
Tracy: I’m just doing my job, sit down your lunch will be here soon, I took the liberty of ordering, she pored him a cup of coffee and slid it over to him, and you look tired.
James: I am, he sat down and picked up the coffee, I guess we all are, Paranid space is no place to spend time in.
Tracy nodded as she sipped her coffee, do you want me to transport you back to the HQ?
James: yes I think that is a good ideal, but we need to stop at the wheat farm in HOL to drop off the transports first.
Tracy: I’ll take care of it, after lunch you get some rest.
The steward arrived with there lunch and placed it in front of them,
Jeff, Sam, Chris, Nikki, Anna, Patti and Darrel arrived and took seats at the table,
The steward said that he would be right back with there meals, and left
James Looked down at his thick stake, fries and salad: this look’s good, as he picked up his knife and fork to start carving the stake.
Another steward arrived with a cart of coffee and Tea and passed out classes and cups filled them and left,
James was buttering a roll when the two stewards arrived with the carts loaded with the others meals, and passed them out.
The main meal was followed with apple or cherry pie with ice cream or sliced fruit on top, and drinks of choice.
When all were full, James told them that the Phoenix4 will take the transports to HOL and drop them off the on to PC.
Jeff: I need to check on my ship if you will excuse me, and he stood up
Tracy: It in the repair section being repainted all of the exterior damage has been repaired, and the engine will be replace when the paint job is done. It will be done before we arrive in PC.
Jeff: thank you.
Tracy: your welcome.
James watched as the group departed the mess hall and the stewards cleared the table,
Tracy: get some rest I’ll be on the bridge, and left.
James stood and headed back to his quarters, entered took off his boots and laid down.
Power Circle 16:00 Local
James was awoken by a knock on his quarters door, He sat up and: come in,
Tracy entered carrying two cups of coffee and handed one to James: thought you mite need this,
James: yes thank you, hr took the coffee and took a cautious sip,
Tracy: it’s 16:00 and we are docked with the HQ.
James: Thank you, let me get cleaned up and please get my pilots to the briefing room for an after operations debriefing say 16:30, we can go over what our scans show and what you have gotten from the captives.
Tracy: ok, Jeff’s fighter has been repaired and is in the landing bay, Ill wake him and give him the information, then I’ll round up the others, and have my security chief there with the interrogation reports.
James: thank you, as he rose to head to the bathroom, Tracy left the cabin.
James entered the briefing room at 16:30, All the attendees were there except Tracy, James was headed toward the head of the table, when Track entered the room and secured the door. And took a seat, James stood behind the podium and brought up Priest’s Pity sector on the large screen behind him, the scans were the ones that Hawk S1 and S2 had acquired, they clearly showed the 4 gun turrets that protected the Pirate base,
James: you can see the gun towers, we found no mine fields but we did find two more towers then we had initially expected, I don’t think that will impair our attack on the base, and we did capture a pirate leader and his fighter wing that should put the defenders at an disadvantage. Now I will let Shayne take over.
Shayne stood and approached the podium and laid his briefing folder on it and inserted a data chip into the slot, The screen behind hi showed the Pirate Leader Max Holt,
Shayne: this man Max Holt was the leader of the 9 ship group that you captured in Split Fire, we have gotten a lot of information from him about the pirate base in Priest’s Pity,
1. the max ships that they had were 48 ships of which we have captured 10, 2. the most that remains at the station is 12 to 16, the rest are on patrols in the 9 sector area, 3. only 8 of them are fitted with Jump drives and we captured one of those, 4 the station is in poor repair, 5. the pirate Leader Anthony Quartz has an agreement with the Paranid Police to help defend the station, if it comes under attack, 6. That Max was unable to notify the station that he was under attack, and that he is not expected to return to the station for 7 Tazuras, The other pirates statements have confirmed most of this information, do you have any questions?
James: where are the pirates now?
Shayne: I have transferred them to the HQ Security.
James: Thank you
Shayne took his data chip and returned to his seat.
James: Chris pull up your engagements and give us a run down on your actions.
Chris stood and went to the podium, he sat his data pad on the podium and hook up the cable for the screen, then he called up his engagement reports and selected the one for Split Fire.
Chris: as you can see here we were leading Jeff by 10 Km and had traveled half way thru the sector when the pirate ships showed up on the screen, I saw the way the ships were positioned, and flew to the one that was in the middle of the asteroid field, took up a position on his rear and waited for the other to move out, when they did, and the Jamming started I opened fire the ship had not raised his shields and was using low power, I fired two of my forward guns and he was ejected when the ships hull took damage, I beamed him in to my hold and flew to join Darrel who was moving to engage the trailing and centered three ships I opened fire on the left one and took its shields down to 2% before the pilot was ejected, the middle ship had been a banded by the time I lined up on it, I searched for other tgts but found none. I searched for ejected Pilots and picked up 5, then I helped Jeff, Darrel, Nikki, and Patti round up the ships and sent them to James to be picked up by the Phoenix.
James stood and Joined Chris at the screen,
James: lets back up for a Mizura, James backed up to the point where Chris and Dallel were picking up the pirates moving for cover in the asteroid field, at this point I was considering our attack plain I told Jeff and the two transports to turn when the pirates left to asteroid field and fire four missals the transport were to fire on the middle group then resume there coarse toward the south gate, Jeff was to fire on the right group and I the left. After the missals stared firing I acquired the left ship in my group and opened fire on him till he bailed, the engagement reports show that the missals damaged these ships, he pointed at them and that Nikki took out This one, he pointed at it, and then engaged this one, He pointed at it, and Patti disabled this one, he pointed at it, and this one, he pointed at it. Chris disabled this one, he pointed at it, and this one, he pointed at it, Darrel disabled this one, he pointed at it and engaged this one, he pointed at it, Jeff, disabled this one, he pointed at it, and this one that had been damaged by Patti’s fire, he pointed at it, I disabled this one, he pointed at it, and this one, that had been damaged by Nikki’s fire, he pointed at it. The whole battle lasted less then 4 Mizuras. Then I called for the Phoenix 4 to come and collect the ships and pirates. It is a classic battle I want to show it to all of our Pilots. It shows team work at it best, Thank you all.
James: now we will go thru the engagement in Red Light, Jeff would you take it from here.
Jeff stood and walked to the screen, while James and Chris Sat down.
Jeff sat his data pad down and hooked up the connections, then he brought up his scans of CBSE, it showed the convoy approaching the north gate,
Jeff: I was preparing to enter the gate I gave my escort ships time to close with me, I notified the convoy that I was going thru, then entered the gate, when I arrived on the other side I was hit by two missals, and gun fire I hit the thrusters cleared the gate and turned to engage the ship that had fired on me. I was hoping that my escorts would jump in and help me, I saw 6 red ships on my display as you can see they know I had to deploy once thru the gate they were waiting for some one to come thru, I maneuvered to the left and got some distance between us and turned to engage the first ship that came after me,
My ship had taken some damage and my come were out, I saw the ship approach and I opened fire, I hit him but had to retreat so my shields could recharge they were at 20%
And I had three ships closing on me, then two of them lost power and the third one slowed, I flipped over and opened fire, his shields were ripped off and he bailed, then I saw 4 more heading for me and then James appeared behind them, they were disabled before I could get back into the battle, for a while there I though I done for, but My escorts had jumped in with me and flanked the pirates. They took out two of them and turned on the last threat as I did, then they rushed to get the rest and assist James’ group
The battle was over in 5 Mizuras, James asked for a status report and called for the Phoenix 4 to jump in and collect the captured ships and pirates. Then we stayed on the Phoenix4. Jeff took his seat.
James: does any one have any thing else to add?, no one spoke up. Ok then you all may return to your duties, Jeff, Tracy Please stay,
The group filed out of the briefing room, Tracy closed the door behind them,
James: I want to look over the interrogations, and we can meet in the morning for our final attack briefing, I’m headed over to the HQ, Jeff check out the captured ships and send them over to the HQ, mark the ones we should keep, then sell the rest, I’ll see you at dinner, and we can go over what you find.
Jeff: will do, he rose and left.
James rose and followed him out and headed to the exit for the HQ,
James entered the office and greeted Anjanette, and then went into Thresica’s office
: Hi were back,
Thresica; Hi James did every thing go all right?
James: yes, well be using the briefing room for a while,
Thresica: ok, do you want me to attend?
James: no that’s all right it will be crowded in there, I’ll take you to dinner and explain what we will be doing.
Thresica: ok
James went into the briefing room and set up the display with Priest’s Pity on the screen
He was making some notes when Jeff, Tracy, Sam, Mike, Leonard Bridges Security chief from Phoenix 3, Col Elnora Vargas Flight Deck (CAG) Phoenix 3, George Ballard
Security chief from Condor 1 and Russ Carrillo Security Chief from Condor 2, Gilmore Maxwell, Cameron Sparks from HQ security, and Derrick Powell CAG, Roe Jean
ACAG from HQ entered and took seats; Faith Ewing rolled in a cart with refreshments and snacks, then left and closed the door.
James started the briefing, going over what security personnel would be taken from the Hq to support the mission, and adding the 6 stealth fighters that were stored at the HQ,
How the ships would be deployed and were the security towers were located. Then he asked if the Phonix3 needed additional security personnel to help with setting the explosive charges on the station,
Tracy: I think I have sufficient security to handle that.
Derrick: along with the stealth fighters and Pilots would he have to supply additional fighters to support the mission,
James: No we got plenty of fighters, I just want the stealth ship to patrol the outer area for early warning of ship approaches, I want all personnel load by 03:30 for departure.
The 2 squads of security from HQ will load on the Phoenix3, along with the stealth fighters, they will deploy with the carriers CAP, once the towers are out of action the transports will depart to the station and round up the people on the station and ship them to the carrier, any captured ships will be sent to the carrier, the Frigates will stay on station till all of our people are out of the station, then we will blow the station load up our fighters and depart the area, I have allotted 40 Mizuras for the mission, then the carrier will take the captives to AP and turn the them over to Argon Police. Then jump to PC. We will have a after action briefing here. Are there any questions?
No one had any the three days to prepare for the raid had given them time to go over the plans and refine it.
James and Jeff headed to there quarters to clean up for supper.
As the others headed to there ships and offices.
James entered his suite then headed to his bath room, took a quick shower put on casual clothes, then headed back down to the lounge, as he entered the private dinning room he spotted Thresica sitting at there table, he walked over and sat down with her.
Thresica: filling better?
James: yes, so how did your day go?
Thresica: about the same, I’ve been over watching my assistants, they are doing much better, I need to learn to let them go on there own, I plan on spending less time in the office, and I want to fly to Aladna Hill, and Ore Belt, to check on operations.
James: that’s fine, But I want you to take two security escorts with you when you leave Power Circle OK.
Thresica: I guess I can do that.
James: have we gotten the crews for the Condors’?
Thresica: for the two new ones and I’ve gotten some of the personnel for the Kingdoms End stations.
James: good, Has Harold started deploying them yet?
Thresica: no he says he will start in two Tazuras.
Jeff Joined them and sit down: I’m starved, and pores him self a cup of coffee.
Marty Wade approached the table: can I tale your orders?
After Marty got there orders he left.
Jeff: I talked to Mike, He said that every thing is good to go.
James: ok, I’m going to turn in after dinner, my ship is on the Phoenix 3, and I’ve got my flight bag packed.
Jeff: I moved my ship over earlier, and I’ll turn in after dinner, will you call me when you get up so we can leave together?
James: sure
Thresica: are you going on the mission tonight?
James: yes
Thresica: Be careful.
Jeff: always.
Marty returned with there meals passed them out, pored fresh drinks, and departed.
When James finished his meal, he stood: good night Thresica I’ll call you tomorrow, Jeff see ya later, and he left the lounge and took the lift up to his suit.
